Part 10

Taehyung's P.O.V.

"What do you mean no?! How can you say that?" she burst. I couldn't tell if she was displaying anger, sadness or anything else, but I didn't care any longer.

I sighed. "Yuqi, don't have a go at me. It's really not going to help, and I hope you know that. I just wanted to be honest with you. Lies would have hurt more."

"That's...true, I guess", she admitted in disappointment.

We let two deep synchronized sighs escape our lips as we stared at the table, avoiding each other's gazes.

"W-Why though?" she stuttered, her eyes becoming teary and red as her eyeballs shook slowly. "I thought you loved me. You didn't sleep almost at all that very night we got together...because you wanted to be with me." 

Oh, fuck. I just made a girl cry.

"I...I think I have feelings for someone else", I sighed again, biting my lip and looking down. I was disappointed in myself for having to break all this to her - after all, she was my first university girlfriend, but I didn't know my feelings for her were gonna pass so quickly. 

Actually, at this point I was unsure if I ever even had feelings for her or if it was just an excuse to try and forget Lisa.

"Oh", she said. "That's alright, I guess. It's not like feelings can be controlled, so I understand you. I actually have feelings for someone else, too. Well, actually, not really, but...I'll find someone soon. Don't worry about me."

"That's great", I said and smiled, though still feeling a bit uncomfortable about the whole situation. 

"What do we do now though?" she asked, and looked at me with the exact same awkwardness I think my facial expression showed. 

"I...don't know", I sighed deeply again. "What do you want to do?"

"I...I want to break up", she said, trying to build up some confidence. "That's what I want to do."

"Really?" I asked, my face loosening up and light appearing on it slowly. "Me too."

"And...I want to leave. I'm extra here anyways, and you don't need me, so I'll just go", she said as she slowly grabbed her purse and got up. She smiled slightly. "Do you want to walk me outside?"

"Sure", I approved, giving her a little friendly smile that we kept giving each other ever since the conversation had mainly started.

We walked slowly towards the entrance door, I opened it for her to go out first, and I'd follow up. The rain had gotten slightly stronger since we came - it was December, so it was already dark outside by this hour, and the raindrops were heavily hitting the ground with brusque sounds.

Yuqi dug into her purse with her hand and pulled out her umbrella and a pack of napkins. She quickly opened the umbrella and covered both of our heads with it, not taking her eyes off mine. I looked back at her as I found her stares distracting.

"Tae", she began, "one more question to be answered before I go."

"Go ahead", I sighed.

"Y-You said you h-had f-feelings for s-someone else", she stuttered slowly as she began to tear up. She pulled out a napkin from the pack as she took a short pause between sentences. "May I possibly know who that someone is?"

I sighed again, looking at the lit up street as it rained. Cars would pass by, people would pass by, and music was to be heard from the nightclub across the road. It was a beautiful night in Seoul, that was for sure. Bright Christmas lights were hung everywhere, and helped the city catch the wintery vibe. I suddenly remembered hearing Lisa talk to Jennie on the phone about how beautiful winter was in Seoul.

Yuqi would keep looking at me even if I didn't look at her, patiently waiting for my answer to her question. I wanted to confidently answer it, but I just couldn't - the lump in my throat wouldn't allow me to. I was nervous, I felt like she was going to have another go at me, or cry even more. 

She pulled her phone out of her jacket's pocket, and ordered an uber. 

"I'll beg you to be out here with me till my uber arrives", she continued slowly, "so you have to tell me. You have no choice. Whether you like it or not, no choice."

I sighed again, and looked at her. I opened my mouth to answer, even if it didn't come easy, but she cut me off before I even began talking.

"Lisa, right?" she guessed, tilting her head to the left.

I sighed again, closed my eyes, and nodded. 

"Yes."

"Not surprised", she said, and sighed powerfully. "You look at her like no other, and I've seen that. But, after all, I get you. She's nice, beautiful, funny, and everything I wish to be. I love her, she's an awesome friend, but I overly envy her."

"You don't have to", I said with my cracky and raspy voice. "You have all of those traits, too."

"And yet you prefer hers."

"Fair point, I guess."

I looked into her eyes when I got the courage to. They were still red, and as she closed them, tears rolled down her cheeks. Her mascara was pouring down too, but I didn't care.

"You'll find someone to love soon", I said in a fatherly voice, hugging her, though not with complete honesty, with a bit of awkwardness. "I promise. No one lives without any love. No one. And who knows? Lisa might reject me. She still has feelings for Jungkook, trust me."

"She doesn't, Tae", Yuqi said, her voice cracking from crying. "She loves you."

I opened my mouth to say something, but was interrupted by Yuqi's uber pulling over in front of the building and her phone beeping, receiving a notification that her uber has arrived.

"See you tomorrow", she said as she opened the car's door, "and I wish you all the best. I mean it."

I smiled and waved at her. Even if her car left, I was still dumbly standing there, waving towards the direction it went for a few more moments.

Okay, I need to know: anyone else obsessed with Queen? Or am I the only granny? Not even kidding, the only way I cheer up or get more energy when I'm tired is listen to Bohemian Rhapsody or Somebody to Love, and Bohemian Rhapsody is my favorite movie. I'm getting a new obsession I see, smh!
