Lisa's P.O.V.
"Good luck!" Jennie yelled from the couch as I touched the doorknob. "I won't watch any The Flash episodes by myself while you're gone, I promise!"
"Thanks", I said back, and giggled slowly as I opened the door and left the room.
As I ran down the stairs, I kept looking at my outfit trying to judge whether it was good enough for such an occasion. Typically, when I met up with people I didn't like I would dress nicely to show I'm better than them, but that's exactly what I didn't want to express this time. Of course I didn't like Yuqi and didn't necessarily wish the best for her, but I wasn't fully a bitch, and didn't want her to think I was hotter than her and that's why Tae acted like he preferred me.
But if we look at both of our personalities closely and compare them, we'll probably see with more specificity why Tae prefers me and not the bitch.
My bag that usually was very light to me no matter how many things I put in it seemed heavy as a rock now. My shoes seemed very heavy to walk with too, and I felt like taking them off and throwing them across the street. Even my jeans seemed tight on my thin legs, and I was freezing and shaking - thing that I usually don't do when I'm cold, because I'm quite strong and can resist extreme weather and temperature conditions.
I guess I was just nervous.
For a bitch. Wow, Lisa, how much dumber can you get?
I walked into the café slowly and graciously. By looking inside through the window I could see that Yuqi was there already, waiting impatiently, so I decided to at least be late with style.
Pfft, well guess what, I was 20 minutes early, but still - I had to walk in with style.
"Hey, Lisa!" she said as she got up from her chair and hugged me tight. I hugged her back, uncomfortably.
"Hey", I responded, not half as enthusiastic as her but still trying to show some optimism.
I sat down and bowed smilingly to the waiter as I gently grabbed the menu he gave me and opened it, starting to look through it and see potential options of what I could order.
"So?" I started talking, trying not to show that I didn't like her. "Why did you want to meet?"
"I needed to talk to a friend that I know I can trust."
Pfft, my ass.
"Thanks for trusting me, I guess", I said, faking a smile. "Did anything happen, is...everything okay?"
"Well...not something necessarily, but I need some advice", she said, seriously.
"Okay, go on."
"I feel pretty unhappy in my relationship with Tae lately."
I almost spat out my cantaloupe-flavored lemonade as I heard her words, but just nodded and tried not to go crazy instead.
"I was thinking of breaking up with him, but didn't want to break his heart. Do you think I should?"
YES! YES! YES!!! YES, YES, YES, OF COURSE!
"I don't know", I shrugged. "How many times did you think this over? Did you consider what exactly makes you unhappy?"
"I simply feel like we're not meant for each other", she sighed and pouted. "We're like chocolate and salmon, really. We have nothing in common - whenever we do what I want, he looks so bored and depressed, and like he isn't enjoying his time with me. Then when we do what he wants, I don't enjoy it, and he's so caught up in practicing his passions that he completely ignores me and it's hard for us to start a conversation, even the driest one."
"I understand", I said, nodding and seeming like a trustworthy, understanding friend. "I know that relationships like this don't work, so if you want to break up with him, do it. He might be heartbroken, I'm not sure, but what I'm sure about is that he's gonna get over it quickly. Everyone experiences break ups throughout their lives, so it would be cowardly of him to spend weeks crying."
Yuqi nodded and opened her mouth to say something, but cut herself off as her phone started ringing.
It was Tae.
Shit.
"Hey!" she said naturally as she picked up. "How's life?"
She took her phone away from her ear and put it on speaker.
"Life is normal", he said dryly. "I just finished 4 hours of intense basketball practice with the boys, and we were heading back to the dorms to shower and then go out somewhere nice, like a movie or something. How's life for you?"
"I'm-"
She stopped, looked up at me and put her finger to her lip, telling me to be quiet.
"I'm out with my family", she said with a fake cute attitude on. "You know, I told you my aunt and cousins from China are coming over this Christmas break, and I have to be with them."
"Oh, well then, I'm gonna make this fast", he said, breathing slightly heavily. "I've thought of this, and..."
"Mhm, mhm, mhm", Yuqi kept repeating as he spoke, nodding her head.
"I think we should break up. I'm sorry, Yuqi, I'm a jerk to do it over the phone and I don't want to hurt you but-"
"Really?!" Yuqi exclaimed enthusiastically, sighing in relief and giggling. "Oh my God!"
"Yeah, Yuqi, I'm really sorry, I-"
"No, it's fine, it's totally fine!" she said, same enthusiasm on. "I actually wanted to do it first, but didn't know how to."
"Really? Great!" he said, and they giggled along to each other for a few seconds.
"By the way, Yuqi, I was gonna ask you something else", he said.
"Yeah?"
"Are you and Lisa friends?"
"Yes, why?"
"I..." he began, somewhat nervously. "I wanna ask her out, and I need some help from one of her friends, but I'm too scared to ask Jennie or Jisoo, as I feel like they'd tell her right away and ruin the surprise."
"Sure, I'll help!" she said, her eyes widening as she got even more enthusiastic.
"Great", he said, happily. "Thanks a lot, Yuqi."
"No problem, bye!"
"Bye!"
And she hung up immediately.
She sighed happily and relievedly, got up, got her stuff and went towards the café's exit door.
"Good luck", she said, smiling and leaving immediately, not looking back for a spare second. "You can do this, you're awesome. The best relationship you could ever have is a yes away."
Yes!
