Lisa's P.O.V.

"Lisa!" Jennie exclaimed as I showed up in front of her dorm's door. She gave me a large, warm hug that I didn't hesitate to return, and welcomed me into her dorm.

"Hi, Jen", I said as I followed her inside. "I didn't see you this weekend."

"Well, you would've if you didn't cancel on me last minute", she said, and rolled her eyes. "Oh well, I guess Tae's date with Yuqi was more important to you than me."

I was about to have a little go at her for being so cheeky when I realized she started laughing like a kid, so I laughed along and let it pass.

"You know today is a big day, right?" she continued. "Sophomore year ball. I hope you slept well last night, cause we don't wanna put on too much make-up just so it can cover the bags under your eyes. Well, you'd look like a ghost with or without, so never mind."

"Yeah, I know", I sighed. "I've been thinking of it ever since the school year started, and I've been pretty enthusiastic about it, but now I just don't seem to get my spirit to feel good about it. I thought I was gonna go with Jungkook, but now that I have no partner and almost all of my friends do, I feel bad."

"Aw, it's alright, cause I don't either.", she said, comforting me. She opened the door more, and showed me the way into her dorm. "Come in. We can go to the mall so we can buy dresses and everything we need for tonight. We have..."

She looked at her phone shortly and put it back into her hoodie's pocket.

"5 hours and 54 minutes to get ready", she continued. "We don't wanna waste no time!"

"Jennie", I called for her as she was going to the bathroom."

"Hm?"

"I already have a dress."

"Ooh", she said, getting excited, "let me see!"

She grabbed my phone and looked at the photo of the dress, zooming in on every detail.

"I wore it for prom in 8th grade, and I haven't gained much weight since then, so it should do, I guess. How does it look on me?"

Her facial expression suddenly changed, going from hype and excitement to something I would call genuine disgust

Her facial expression suddenly changed, going from hype and excitement to something I would call genuine disgust.

"What?" I asked. "I look bad in it, don't I?"

"It's not about the way you look, Lisa", she said, shaking her head in disbelief. "I'm sorry to break it to you, but it's hideous. It would look like shit on anyone. Well, maybe apart from The Fontane Sisters."

Note from author: The Fontane Sisters are a musical trio, active 1941-1961.

"Ugh, fine", I said, deleted the picture of myself in the dress, and closed my phone putting it back into my mini backpack. "I guess we'll go shopping then."
