Chapter 8

     "P-Pearl,"Mara stuttered in surprise."M-Marina, what are you doing here?"
     "Well we were bored, so we decided to come down here and visit you." Marina said.
     Mara stepped aside, allowing Pearl and Marina to enter her home.
     "Nice place(nigga, oops meme reference:) ) you got here." Pearl said looking around.
     "It's not much, but it's home."Mara said.
     Marina sat down on the couch. (in the exact spot Alan was less than a minute earlier)
     Pearl sat on the couch beside Marina.
     "So care to explain the stuttering and the blushing?" Pearl said, raising an eyebrow.
     Mara blushed and turned her head away."I'm not gonna answer that question," she said.
     "We're you getting romantic with a boy?" Pearl pushed.
     "Pearlie, leave her alone," Marina said, swatting Pearl on the back of the head."That's her personal business!"
     "We're you two about to get funky on this couch?" Pearl continued, ignoring Marina.
     Mara's face turned an even brighter shade of red. I dunno, were we? She thought.
     "Pearl stop it!" Marina said.
     "And did that boy happen to be the human from last night?"
     Mara's eyes widened as Pearl pulled out Duelies.
     "Don't think we didn't see your face!" Pearl shouted."We saw it was you 3! There's no denying it was you!"
     Mara there herself behind her loveseat. (The irony, huh?)
     And at that moment, Alan burst into the room, having heard everything.
     "Lo and behold, there he is," Pearl sneered."We got him Marina."
     "Pearlie this isn't you!"Marina exclaimed.
     "I can't believe it, they survived all these years and we had no idea!" Pearl said."Well we do now!"
     "The land shortage could end! We go and give the humans the boot and make them extinct like they should be, then the land shortage ends!"
     Alan realized why she wanted him so desperately.
     "NOOOOO!" Alan exclaimed."If you guys try to fight us, you won't win!"
     "Says who."Pearl said.
     "Says me and our far superior weapon technology!"Alan exclaimed.
     "PFFFFFF-"
     "No seriously!"Alan shouted."Your little water guns won't do shit against us! We have REAL guns! That would kill your kind with one shot!"
     Suddenly Alan unholstered a CZ75B pistol from it's holster, concealed inside his jeans and took aim at Pearl.
     "This is a real gun!"Alan shouted."This bitch'll kill you with one shot!"
     "Prove it!" Pearl shouted back, her Duelies still aimed at Alan.
     Alan looked around, and saw a vase sitting beside a table, he aimed and shot it. The vase burst into a million pieces and the bullet continued through it, punching straight into the wall.
     "Holy shit!"Pearl exclaimed."I think I'll keep that after you hand it over."
     Then Mara noticed the strange thing on Pearl's neck. It looked like a grape. But little tentacles were coming out of it and digging into Pearl's skin.
     "What's that on your neck Pearl?"Mara yelled.
     Pearl pulled her shirt up to hide it."None of your business thot!"
     Mara blushed."We weren't doing anything!"
     "Aha! So you admit you guys were doing something?" Pearl sneered.
     Suddenly, Marina lunged at Pearl and grabbed the thing on her neck.
     "Get the hell of me bi-"Pearl was cut off as Marina tore the thing from Pearl's neck, causing a small flow of pink ink from the wound. Pearl passed out instantly.
     The thing wiggled in Marina's hand and she threw it down on the floor with a horrified and disgusted squeal.
     Alan pumped 3 bullets in the thing. They went through it and bounced off the floor. (Mara must've had some pretty HARDwood floors. Buh dun tsss)
     The thing stopped wiggling and faded to dust for some reason. (Anybody else feel UnderTale vibes?)
     "What was that thing controlling my friend?!" Marina demanded.
     "I dunno, it must've been connected to her nervous system and controlling her."Alan responded, picking up the fallen bullets. Then he tucked the handgun back into it's holster in his pants.
     "Well you owe me some answers!"Marina said.
     Sighhhhhhhhhh.
     Alan sighed a super long sigh and said,"Fine."
     "How the heck did the humans survive?"
     Alan explained the ships and all that stuff from Chapter 2 again.
     "And how did you end up here."Marina asked.
     Alan clenched his fists.
     Oh shit she hit his soft spot! Mara thought. Mara walked up to Alan and put her hand on his back.
     "I don't want to talk about it."
     Marina wanted to ask why, but she recognized the time of his voice, his body language, and she could've sworn she saw a glow from where Alan's eyes were.
     "If you saw my drawings, none of the characters have actually seen Alan's eyes, and they won't for a long time"Aiden said from nowhereness.
     "Okay,"Marina says."You don't have to."
     Pearl stirs.
     "Oh thank cod are you alright Pearlie?!"Marina exclaims.
     "I had the weirdest dream th-"she stopped when she saw Alan. She sat up to get a better look at him.
     "Oh and I'm gonna get you back eventually for calling me a thot."Mara said without looking at Pearl.
     "What the hell are you talking about?"Pearl said, rubbing her head."And why is there a human here?!"
     "Reasons,"Mara said.
     "What reasons?"Pearl pushed.
     "Alan once again explained the survival of humanity and him being mailed by a bear and saved by CC." Aiden said, still out of view
     "Well that sounds intense,"Pearl said."What did I say?"
     "Well you called me a thot."Mara said angrily.
     Alan explained everything else she said. Mara needed to cool off for a minute. He didn't know what her grudge was against being called a thot, but he wasn't gonna worry about that right now.

     Alan felt something stab into his neck. The others suddenly had darts in their necks.
     "Ow!"Pearl exclaimed. She then passed out, falling flat on her face.
     "What's happenin-"Marina was cut off as she collapsed.
     "Alan!"Mara cried. She fought the darkness threatening to consume her and yanked the dart out of her neck. Alan collapsed before he could react.
     Octolings were suddenly there and grabbing the unconscious Inkling, Octoling, and human.
     "Alan!"Mara fought the darkness and the Octolings attempting to restrain her and struggled towards Alan.
     Suddenly, an Octoling lunged at her and plunged a syringe into her neck.
     Mara went limp. Her last thought before the darkness consumed her was,
     Alan!
