Chapter 19

About 2 weeks have passed since the evacuation to Beta 1. Alan was playing Fortnite in his apartment, and Mara sat on the couch beside him reading a book.

"FUCK!" Alan exclaimed as someone landed behind him and shotgunned him, knocking him out of the game, and with Logan being dead, making his duo place #13.

"Dude, we need to stick together," Logan said into Alan's headset.(Logan was playing in his apartment.)

"I know, but you wanna land in the most popular town, and I wanna land somewhere by the edge of the map." Alan said.

"Fine, we'll try it your way, and if that doesn't work then we have to try it my way." Logan said.

"Thank you, with our skill, we can win." Alan said.

"Why don't you 2 take a break from the game," Mara said."I wanna go for a walk."

"Alright," Alan said.

"Aw c'mon, one more round!" Logan whined.

"NO!" Mara said."You two have been playing for 3 fucking hours!"

"Fine, I'll just play Solo." Logan huffed, then his headset disconnected.

Mara and Alan walked out of the room and took the elevator down to the ground floor. Mara had healed up relatively well, and she didn't feel allot of pain anymore. But she did take a painkiller pill twice a day just in case.

As usual, allot of people stared and pointed at Mara, but she ignored. Mara and Alan walked to the park.

"God, I love this area," Mara said."It's so different from Inkopolis with all of it's technology and giant screens, towering buildings, and the Great Zapfish."

"Oh, and I've always wondered." Mara continued.

"What?" Alan said.

"How do you guys get power? We rely on the Great Zapfish for electricity. but what do you guys use to generate electricity?"

"We have several ways to generate power with our technology." Alan said. He explained the many techs we have that generate our power.(Hydraulic-electricity, wind power, solar panels, and a few other techs we had.

"That really puts how far behind my kind is into perspective huh?" Mara said.

"Well, I talked to the Patron yesterday and he said that he's preparing a small team to go to Inkopolis, reveal that we survived, warn them about the Dictator and share our technologies with them." Alan said, smiling.

"Really?!" Mara exclaimed."That's great! When is it gonna leave?"

"He said about a week before it's ready." Alan said.

Mara smiled, happy that her kind would be protected from that sick man.

"He also said that any Inklings and Octolings living there can immigrate here for safety, only requiring that they work just like any other human." Alan said.

"Great!" Mara said.

"Is he gonna send any Inklings with the team?" Mara asked.

"He's sending Of the Hook and the Squid Sisters with the men and women of the team," Alan said."He knew that if Inklings were part of the group, and such famous Inklings to help that case, that they would hopefully trust us."

Mara smiled, absolutely overjoyed that her kind would soon be safe.

Vian and Bridgett suddenly walked up to them.

"Hey guys, what are you doing here?" Vian said.

"Just out for a walk." Alan said.

"How are you guys doing?" Mara asked.

"Great!" Bridgett said.

"That's good," Mara said."Have you heard about the Patron's plan next week?"

"Yeah, Marina told us about it." Vian said.

"Cool," Mara said."Well, we'll see you guys later."

"Bye!" Bridgett said.

They all continued their walks.
