Chapter 7 - Just A Mere Human

"Let me go check what's taking Aoi so long to get back here okay?" Maia told Belle then left.

But before she could completely walk out of the door Aoi appeared and behind him was Xander.

"Alpha!" Maia exclaimed making Aoi, who apparently is not aware that Xander is behind him, turn around surprised.

"Xander?" Aoi said. "What are you doing here?"

Xander looked disapprovingly at his Beta and his wife then said. "Is it weird that your Alpha is inside the pack hospital?"

"What do you want?" Maia said with annoyance in her voice making Xander raised his eyebrows at her and Aoi turn to her with a meaningful look.

"Watch your tone Maia. You're talking to the Alpha." He ordered.

Maia scoffed before looking away. "I'm sorry."

"It's fine." Xander said. "It's good that you're both here as I have already thought about what I wanted to do with the human girl."

"The human girl has a name." Maia said defiantly turning to Xander with a glare.

Xander ignored Maia this time and spoke directly to his Beta.

"I have called the council and ask them to send someone over." Xander started.

"What for?" Aoi asked already knowing where the conversation is going.

"I made a request to severe my mating bond with the human girl." Xander explained not even batting an eye lash.

Both Maia and Aoi stared at him in shock.

"Alpha! Why?" Aoi asked in disbelief. Xander knows the consequences of severing a mating bond. It might prevent the wolf from dying from the lack of its mate, but that will not spare all parties involved from feeling the pains. He could not believe that Xander's wolf would agree to this...because time will pass, long after the bond has been severed, his wolf will seek a mate, and since he severed a sacred bond given by the Goddess, he will not be given another chance.

"Didn't you tell me to think about how I'll handle this?" Xander said interrupting Aoi's thoughts. "Once the mate bond is severed, all her memories about us will disappear. Hitting two birds with one stone."

"But Xander..." Aoi started to say but Xander will have none of it. He turned away while saying.

"Take the girl with you. She can stay only until our bond is severed. Do not let her around the pack, I don't want anyone to know who she is."

Xander was about to leave when he heard the most heartbreaking voice he heard in a long time speak behind them.

"You hate me that much?"

They all turned behind them, and Belle stood there. Maia noticed that her IV is no longer attached to her making her hand bleed into the floor. But they all know that she's numb to it because her face is showing a kind of pain that only someone who has been rejected can ever feel.

When Belle heard Maia speak the Alpha's name she quickly stood up from the bed. Maia was so preoccupied about the Alpha's appearance that she wasn't able to close the door tightly so Belle stood behind it listening quietly.

"I made a request to severe my mating bond with the human girl." She heard Xander say and once again she felt her chest tighten, she couldn't breathe.
