Waking up in the morning, Xander has never felt his world this empty before. Even after Ariana's rejection, he never felt such numbing pain. His bed has never felt so big without Belle by his side that morning.

Last night, after making sure that Belle had made it safely to Lia's house he asked Aoi not to come, he wanted to be left alone, to think...about what Belle was trying to do, about what he did that pushed Belle away and about why of all people would Ariana choose her to do her bidding, is this still revenge for keeping the truth from her.

It's not that he didn't want to believe Belle, he always knew there was something special with Ariana, he just never thought that it would be having some sort of power. He just didn't want to accept the fact that Belle was so quick on taking Ariana's side, not after she knew what Ariana did. Not after knowing what Ariana's betrayal did to him.

His body felt so heavy he refused to get up, but the coldness on Belle's side of the bed made him do it.

Then a sound made him freeze. Xander stopped breathing for a moment and listened.

*clank clank*

Clanking of pans and plates...in his kitchen. No way he thought. Xander bolted up from his bed and ran outside his bedroom heading to the kitchen.

What he saw made him stop dead on his tracks, someone stood on his kitchen cooking. And when the person turned, Xander almost had a hard time to stop himself from killing the person.

*Oh hello darling...good morning!* the person greeted with a wide smile, hand full of plates and pans.

"The fuck are you doing in my house, Kyle!" Xander said glaring at his trespassing bestfriend.

Kyle burst out laughing and gently laid the pans and plates on the table. Xander glared at him more but that only seem to amuse Kyle.

"What?" he said in between laughing. "Disappointed I wasn't your darling mate"

Xander sighed turning away from the amused Kyle, rubbing the frustration off of his face he dropped down into the sofa. A few moments later he felt the sofa dip beside him and knew that Kyle sat there.

"Sorry." Kyle said. "That wasn't funny."

Xander took his hands away from his face and turned glaring at Kyle. "You're not very convincing with that fucking smile on your face."

Kyle looked at Xander smiling even wider. "I can't." He said trying to wipe away his smile but failing.

Xander rolled his eyes and once again found himself sighing and then leaning into the couch.

"Wow!" Kyle started saying. "Aoi is such an ass."

Xander did not respond but he turned to his bestfriend still with the glare and questioning eyes.

"He called me early this morning and told me what happened then ask me to come check on you cause he'll be on border patrol duty till later. Now I think it was just an excuse."

"He is on patrol duty." Xander argued.

"I know." Kyle said looking at Xander, this time he was plainly smiling at him. "Obviously I was kidding. But still...I know that guy is using me as a shield."

"How so?" Xander asked.

Kyle leaned back into the sofa also before continuing. "Aoi has always looked up to you ever since we were young. He has always seen you as this strong Alpha. Seeing you after the incident with Ariana I don't think he didn't want to see you like that ever again."
