Chapter 25 - Calm to Chaos

The following morning it was Xander who woke up into an empty bed. Worried, he jumped up and ran outside the door in a panic.

"Belle!"

"Hey!" Belle exclaimed, startled at Xander. "What's wrong?"

Belle asked looking at Xander, she's by the kitchen table preparing breakfast.

"Nothing." He answered. "I just..."

He didn't continue not wanting to worry his mate. Instead he said. "What are you doing up this early?"

"Well...I figured you prepared breakfast yesterday, so I wanted to do it today." Belle answered. "Besides, it's not that early."

Xander exhaled a sigh of relief before walking towards Belle and pulling her close by the waist. She looked at him with a smile and he looked at her lovingly, before leaning down to give her a kiss.

When he let go, he said, "Could you please wake me up when you wake up? I don't want waking up on an empty bed."

"Okay." Belle answered even though she's a little confused as to why, she could feel Xander's worries thru their bond. But also knowing that Xander is hiding it, she chose not to pry. 

"What did you cook?" Xander asked sitting down.

"Just a simple breakfast. Don't expect it to be as nice as what you made yesterday."

"I'll eat anything made by you."

Belle chuckled and said. "Say that after you have tasted it."

"Xander, that's just fried egg, there's no way I messed up cooking that." Belle said staring at Xander.

"What are you talking about?" Xander asked looking up from his food.

"You've been playing with your food this whole time."

"Oh, uhm, I'm sorry." He apologized and started eating.

"You're that worried huh?" Belle said suddenly looking down at her food.

"What?"

"I know what's today Xander." Belle said not looking up. "I didn't forget."

Xander remained silent unsure of what to say, so Belle continued.

"Should I be worried?"

"No." Xander exclaimed. "Belle there is nothing to worry about."

"You're not that convincing, when you're acting like that."

Xander sigh feeling guilty.

"I'm sorry." He said. "This is my doing. I'm going to fix this for us. You don't have to worry about anything."

Belle reached out across the table and took Xander's hands.

"Xander, this is about us. We are going to fix this." Belle said looking straight at Xander's eyes. "If there is a way to fix this, we will do it together. Okay?"

Xander smiled and felt so proud at how strong Belle is, and how that strength is flowing into him with just a touch of her hand.

"Okay."

Xander stood at the porch of the pack house with his Beta by his side patiently waiting for the arrival of the two council members who were sent to severe his bond with Belle, while Belle and Alpha Luca waited at the common room.
