A/N : Is it weird that even though I'm writing this, I also cannot understand why Belle is doing all this? I feel for Xander honestly. 😳🤣

Xander stood shocked, mouth agaped and stared disbelievingly at his mate.

"What did you say?" He asked, almost whispering the words.

"I..." Belle started to say. "I wasn't in a coma, I mean, not really. I was floating in a subconscious state...and in there Ariana showed herself to me."

Rubbing his face with both his hands and feeling overwhelmed, he turned away from Belle and moved to sit on the sofa. His head resting in his hands.

He felt the cushions beside him dip a little and knew that Belle went to sit beside him too.

"You probably think I'm crazy." Belle said and Xander could hear her voice shaking. "I wish I was too, at least then, maybe; it wouldn't bother me that I am hurting you."

"Then don't" Xander said looking at Belle almost pleading. He didn't want to argue, and the last thing he wanted is for their first fight to be about his past, specially not about Ariana.

"I'm trying not to." Belle answered. "But I can't stop it if it's what you feel."

"Why are you following orders from a ghost Belle."

"Because I know she isn't just a ghost." Belle said looking at Xander with a sad smile.

"I'm not doing it Belle." Xander said voice full of determination ans shaking his headh He didn't want to be a villain in Belle's life, not again after everything he had put her through, but this is just too much. He is just about to accepting his past, but forgetting it for the sake of some stranger, that's taking it too far, too early and too much for him.

"It's okay." Belle said surprising Xander. He never thought it would be that easy to dissuade Belle. And he thought right.

"It would be harder without your help, since you are the Alpha" Belle said, Xander looking at her suspiciously, guessing where the conversation is going. "But being your Luna, my voice would mean something, if only just a little, wouldn't it?"

Xander sat up straight and stared disbelievingly at Belle. She would never go against him, he thought. But knowing Belle, he could be wrong.

"I have to do this Xander." Belle said, her voice low, her eyes refusing to look at him.

"Why?!" Xander exclaimed losing patience.

"I made a promise."

"Fuck that promise!" Xander said standing up, he walked a little further away from Belle but turned around so he was facing her.

"Do you not get what you're asking me to do?" He asked. "You know about my past, you know what Ariana did, you fucking now how that almost destroyed me, this pack, my father,us, hell I almost severed our bond because of how messed up I was ."

"I can't do this alone."

"Then don't do it!'

"I have to!"

"Ariana is dead Belle!" Xander said this time unable to contain how exasperated he is with Belle. He walked closer to his mate, kneeled down in front of her and held her face. "She's gone Belle. Whatever you saw, it's all just fragments of your subconscious, nothing more than illusions in a dream."

"Oh Xander, how I wish that were true." Belle said leaning into Xander's touch. "Why do you think Amos is a Caster. He didn't just learn how to make spells, he was born with the knowledge to do it. Ariana is too."
