"Coffee? Water? Soda?" Marcus offered Xander while the Alpha walked towards the living room.
"No, thank you." Xander answered without looking back at Marcus.
"Whiskey then." Marcus answered walking towards the living room cupboard where he keeps his drinks.
Xander turned to him confused. Wondering exactly what he did to offend the guy. He's been acting hostile towards him from the start.
Marcus went to sit down on the couch with two glasses of whiskey in hand setting one across him.
"Please, have a sit."
Xander sat down on the couch right across Marcus but did not touch the whiskey. He just leaned back into the couch and watch Marcus as he stares back at him drinking his whiskey.
Unable to take the awkward silence and confusing action of Marcus, Xander finally spoke up.
"Do you have a problem?" He asked looking back a little irritated at Marcus.
Marcus however ignored that. He finished his whiskey and gently put the glass down the table.
"Let me tell you a story." Marcus started, making Xander looked at him confused but chose to stay silent.
"There was this time, in the middle of the night I woke up thirsty." Marcus leaned back again into the couch and continued. "I went down to get some drink and I heard someone crying. Looking around I noticed lights peaking out of the guest room and realized that the cries we're coming from there."
Xander remained silent starting to figure out where the story is heading.
"The guest room is being used by this girl named Belle." Marcus continued studying Xander's reaction to his every word. "I never heard someone cry like that before, the pain was so evident in her voice it broke my heart. Forgetting about my thirst, I went back up, lay down beside my wife and embraced her tight. Right on that moment, I made a promise to myself, to never, never at all, will I do anything to make my wife shed tears that way."
Marcus grew quiet after that, still staring at Xander. Xander tried to say something but he stopped when they heard a car pull up the drive way.
- O -
"Kids please," Lia said struggling at the groceries keeoing both her arms occupied. "Will you come open the door please."
Luna came running towards her leaving her twin Yueh helping Belle take the box out of the trunk.
But even before Luna could touch the door knob the door opened revealing her father.
"Papa!"
"Hey moon princess." Marcus greeted back bending down and kissing her daughter on the forehead and then taking the groceries off of Lia's hand and kissing her.
"Hey honey." he said. "We've got company."
Not waiting for Lia to respond, Marcus went back inside, leaving his wife staring at him.
"Come on Princess, can you help me unpack this please?"
"Yes Papa." answered Luna following her father then stoping just right inside the door when she saw Xander standing there.
"Hello Luna." Xander greeted the girl smiling up at him and bending down to kiss her on the forehead.
"Xander."
Xander stood straight up and watched as Luna went skipping towards the kitchen following her father then turned to look at his bestfriend.
"Hey Lia." Xander greeted unable to look at Lia in the eyes for too long afraid that he might see disapointment staring back at him.
