Chapter 18 - Taking Risk

Xander knocked on the door and they both waited. After a few moments they heard movement on the other side and then the door opened revealing a pretty girl around the same age as Belle.

And Belle noticed this girl's big resemblance with another girl she learned to care for.

The girl first looked at her and then turned to Xander making her freeze, but quickly got her senses back.

"Xander." She said trying not to show any kind of emotion.

"Hey, Lia." Xander said and Belle could feel him squeezing at her hand.

Lia ignored Xander and then turned to her saying.

"You must be Belle?"

Belle looked at her surprised.

"You know who I am?" she asked.

"From the moment you became a mate to this guy." Lia said nodding at Xander when she referred to him.

"Your Maia's sister." Belle then said.

"You know who I am?"

"Kyle he, he told me about you." Belle answered.

"He did huh?"

Belle looked at Xander and could see the awkward expression on his face. He was just standing there, eyes downcast his hand on hers gripping her tight. She did not expect that Xander could act like a cute puppy who was ashamed of what he has done, so she helped him out.

"Uhm...Xander came here to see you." Belle said pulling on to his hand to make him speak.

Lia didn't say anything, she only turned to look at Xander and waited.

"Lia I..." Xander started but he couldn't find the right words to say. So he said the one thing he knows he is sure of right now that he is standing before the best friend he turned away years ago.

"I missed you."

Seeing the struggling look on her best friend's face, Lia's heart quickly softened, besides she's only just pretending to be mad and without a doubt she's so happy that he is now standing before her.

"I missed you too you big oaf. Come here!" Lia smiled at Xander and then pulled him into a hug.

Belle took a small step back to give the two the time she knows they needed so much after not seeing each other in so many years. But seeing Xander hugging some other girl when he hasn't done anything to her except hold her hands is squeezing her heart painfully, she had to look away. Yes, that forced first kiss doesn't count.

But Lia could see the look in her eyes and the trace of jealousy she's trying hard to hide. So Lia decided to let go and look up finally smiling at her estrange best friend.

"I'm so sorry Lia." Xander said trying hard to suppress his tears.

"I am too, for letting you turn me away. I should have stood my ground." Lia said taking Xander's hand. "I guess I also couldn't bear seeing you like that and you turning me away is also my way out."

"But I know you wouldn't if I had given you a chance."

"You bet I wouldn't" Lia said punching Xander in the chest and making him laugh.

"Your punches are still as ticklish as ever."

"Turn me away again and that wouldn't be so."

"I wouldn't dare."
