When I opened my eyes, the fox was not in my bed, and the clothes were not at the foot of my bed, but my bag was still packed.

I could smell something cooking and I got up, changing into my thief's outfit, before walking out, carrying the bag in one hand.

As I got into the kitchen, I found Akeno had once again donned her human form, this time with clothing on. She was wearing the leather shoes, long stockings, and amber colored long skirt I had picked out to hide her tail. Although her tail was wagging and it raised her skirt revealing the tail. Her upper body was covered in a light pink blouse with a jean jacket. A hat sat lopsided on her head, revealing one of her fox ears.

She was cooking venison and some veggies. She set two plates on the table, and smiled when she noticed me. "Good morning." She said, tilting her head a bit as she smiled brightly.

"Good morning?" I questioned as I sat down at the table.

She sat down across from me and started eating. I followed suit at a much slower pace. My mind had wandered elsewhere.

What would I do when I get to Krate? Just drop her off and say 'Bye' then head home? Should I leave her as soon as she knows where she is? What if she refuses to get rid of these awful tattoos?

"Excuse me? You never told me your name." Akeno asked.

"Its Mikayla. But call me Mikky." I answered.

"Alright Mikky. You look distracted." Akeno said. "Am I a burden?"

"Of course you're a burden. You're asking me to take you several hundred miles to Krate." I rolled my eyes. "But the payment is fair so I suppose it'll be worth it in the end."

A small, yet guilty smile touched Akeno's lips. "Perhaps we will grow to be friends?"

"You never know."

"You know. You can see the future can't you?" Akeno asked, her right ear standing up curiously, while her left was hidden under the hat.

"Sometimes." I answered. "If I want to see it at will I have to focus very hard. Otherwise the future comes to me when I need it."

"When you were fighting all those guards." Akeno asked. "Was that why they were unable to hit you?"

"Yes. The future came to me, and told me how to move, and when to strike." I nodded.

"I wish Elysium would let the Deities have that power." Akeno sighed. "I guess it just wasn't meant to be."

"You're still bound by Elysium's laws right?" I asked.

She nodded as she took a bite of food. "Elysium sets rules we cannot break. To break them would turn us into demons, as Elysium would turn their back on us."

"Elysium talks to you?"

"No. We know these rules my instinct. We were sent to Exodious to watch over the people here. The Fallen One had no intention of taking care of the humans here. They only wanted to harvest them for its demons."

"Do you know the Four Families?" I asked.

She shook her head. "I have never met Rose, Amber, Luna, or any of the Dragon Heirs. Nor am I allowed to. My fate must be kept away from the demons."

"But you live in Krate, a village populated by dragons." I explained.

"Yes. But I do not commune with them other than in my fox form. They think of me only as another animal. If they wish to hunt me, I escape. My job is to watch over them, not interfere with them."

"Why did you not leave me when I fell asleep?" I asked.

"What good would that do? I had no idea where to go, no clue where to start. If a guard saw me running through the woods their hunt would start up again, and I would only cause more trouble."

"I see. At least you think about your actions." I sighed.

"Most gods do. Its the few who actually break the rules who give us bad names." she explained.

"So you're not allowed to commune with mortals?" I asked.

"Yes."

"Then if a vampire came up to you-"

"I would avoid revealing my true self to them."

"And say they found out by accident?"

"Then it is up to Elysium to decide my fate. If they wish me to become a demon, then I'll accept." She said.

"What happens when you become a demon?" I asked.

"I don't know. Perhaps I will lose my mind and kill anyone on sight until I am hunted down. Maybe I will remain with the same mind and gain a ferocious body. Or perhaps, I may be the same, just replaced, and nature will be afraid of me." Akeno said.

"You're not afraid that might happen?" I asked. Mikky could tell the fox was lying about this, but she didn't know why? Should she order her to speak the truth?

"Whatever happens happens. I cannot see my future like you can, so why should I fear what I do not know?" Akeno said.

I nodded and we finished our meals. I packed another bag full of medical supplies and food then went outside to my black horse. I tied the bags to its sides then grabbed my bow and quiver that was propped up against my cabin.

Akeno watched me curiously. "Will the humans not take notice of you?" she asked.

"Star is the fastest horse in this region. I dare the Armies to catch him." I scoffed before I hopped on the horse. Akeno lept on like a pro, her arms wrapping around my mid section to hold herself steady.

I flicked the reins and Star started walking. I would not have him run through the forest without a path. I did not want my horse to get harmed in any way.

"What led you to start to steal?" Akeno asked once we reached the road, and we started heading back towards town.

"Greed." I answered. "I watched too many rich people ruining the lives of others. The rich dragged my father away to war, and my mother away to slavery. I wanted revenge. So I stole, and lied. I ruined their name and made them bankrupt. In turn, the rest of the villagers were given more money to take care of themselves, while the cruel leader was ruined." I explained. "If you do not treat others with respect, you do not deserve luxury."

"Then Greed took you over?" Akeno asked.

"Yes. I wanted more. More for myself. I didn't care about the villagers anymore. I wanted money, and power, all for myself."

"At least you are different now." Akeno nodded into the back of my shoulder.

"Hide your tail and fix your hat." I told her as I pulled my mask up, and pulled the hood over my head.

Akeno listened quickly, so much as to put a blanket around my shoulders to hide my tattoos before her arms wrapped around me again.

As the carriage rode by she giggled. "You're so cute Mikky." She said.

There were a few whistles from the carriage drivers beside us, happy to see a couple. When they were out of view I pulled my hood off and glared at her over my shoulder. She only smiled victoriously.

"I'm cute?" I asked.

"Of course you are." Akeno said. "You have these." She gripped one of my cat ears softly.

"So do you." I added.

She smiled brightly and wiggled them as she let go of my ears. My own flicked in annoyance before turning back to the road.

"How long before we get to the village?" She asked.

"An hour or so." I answered. "You better not ask very few minutes."

"I didn't plan on it, but now I might just to tease you."

"If you do, you can find your own way home." I growled.

"Feisty." She murred into my ear. "I love it."

This Fox was going to be the death of me.
