Camelia took us out of the infirmary and showed us around the village. It was a small village built beside a mine which is how it made most of it's profit.

That, and everyone came for the mystic healer.

Camelia walked us to what appeared to be a temple of some kind. Four pillars held a flat stone tablet in the air above a rock that stuck out of the ground in the center of the pillars. Thousands of symbols covered the stone in a language I couldn't understand.

However, those symbols, some of which appeared to be the same lines on my body. They took the exact same paths and shapes as the tattoos I had.

"Akeno, can you read that?" I asked.

She was instead staring at the floor, as if trying not to look. Her expression sad.

"Akeno?" I asked. "What's wrong?"

"This is the temple of Juno and is guarded by the Twenty Tailed Fox." Camelia said. "The Kitsune you see before you is that Fox."

My eyes widened a bit. "You're faking your weakness?" I asked.

"No." Akeno answered. "I was wasting away long before I was taken from this temple." Akeno raised her head to look at me in sadness.

"You loved her." Camelia said.

"Juno was the Lord of Fire. She created my kind, as well as gave the flame to the dragons. We both fell in love, and the others did not like our relationship. They thought it was degrading for her, as she was the strongest of them all. So she gave me her blood, and Nine became Twenty."

With each word my heart hurt a bit more.

"But the races would have no more. When the True Gods began putting them in their place, and keeping them in line, they created ways of battling us. Those ways are lost to us now, however they were powerful then. Juno was sealed permanently along with the other True Gods. Juno was willing though. As long as I was allowed to be free and protect her temple, she would not fight back."

She was sparing me romantic details, but the look on her face told me that she was revisiting a memory more powerful than something I could create with her.

The look in her eyes.

I hated it.

"Mikky?" Akeno asked, realizing I was probably glaring at her. I blinked and looked back at the stone.

"Do you want to stay here?" I asked.

She blinked. Or at least I think she did, I wasn't looking at her.

"I want to stay with you." She answered.

"When she comes back are you going to leave me?" I asked as I looked back at her.

"Come back? Leave you? Mikky don't talk about those kinds of things!" She stated.

"It was a valid question." I answered.

"It was not!" Akeno retorted

"Both of you shut your mouths." Camelia growled. "This is a temple, not a fight club. Respect Juno."

I was so close to snapping back at her, but my annoyance and anger was too much to let loose at a temple. So instead I turned and made my way back into the village to try and avoid all conflict.

However Akeno would have none of it. She followed close behind me, and since she was taller and was able to read my thoughts, I just could not avoid her.

In order to protect the villagers from my wrath, I headed into the forest, Akeno following close behind.

"You said there was one other person." I told her.
