Chapter 44

Akeno was very good at scratching my ears. So much so that she had to wake me up to get me out of the bath.

Apparently I'm too heavy even for a Goddess.

I collapsed on the bed, face down, and took in the scent of our lovely bed. Akeno's scent greatly overpowered mine, but that could just be because I did not care for mine, and revelled in her's.

She smelled of the seasons, and the forest itself. She was like nature in every sense. Beautiful, and dangerous.

I inhaled her scent once again, my eyes falling shut for the third time that night.

"For the supposed Fate Weaver," Akeno started as she laid on the bed beside me, in all her naked glory. "You are the laziest person I have ever met." She cut me off before I could defend myself. "Even for a Lattamer."

I rolled my eyes and sat up. "Did wearing clothing not cross your mind once?" I questioned.

"Why do I need to cover myself?" She asked, motioning to her gorgeous curves. "We're home alone, and it's nothing you haven't seen." She scoffed once, looking towards the window. "Even if Edon, or anyone for that matter was here, I still wouldn't mind walking around my house naked. For it is my home, and I am allowed to do as I please? Am I not?"

"I think the real reason is because you're conceited, and you hold no shame in your body."

"That too." She shrugged, falling onto her back where she looked up at the ceiling. "You mentioned marriage before."

I raised an eyebrow. "Have you been thinking about it?"

"You haven't noticed?" She asked as she rolled onto her side to face me.

"I mean it when I say your mind is your own business. I don't spend my day shifting through your thoughts trying to find out if you're cheating on me, because I trust you." I told her.

She smiled. "I know you do. I just keep thinking, would it feel different to be married?"

"I don't know, I've never been married before." I answered.

She looked at me hopefully. "I wouldn't mind it."

"I want to hear you say the words Akeno." I smiled.

She rolled her eyes. "Will you marry me?"

"Absolutely." I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her into a kiss. Her tail blanketed us and mine wrapped around her's, contently holding her close.

Then I realized she was naked, and pushed her back. "Kissing you while you're naked is pretty awkward, I'm not going to lie."

"Nothing you haven't done before." Akeno smirked.

"Well we aren't having sex so its still pretty weird."

"Who told you that?" Akeno raised her eyebrow mischievously.

Damn apples.

I was setting the table for dinner when Edon walked into the kitchen. "Good evening." She smiled. "Do you mind if I join you two?"

"Not at all, I'll just set another plate." I smiled.

When Akeno came out, I didn't honestly expect her to be naked, but I guess she really meant what she said, because there she was, in her full glory.

However, Edon didn't even give her a second glance. "Sleep well Akeno?" She smiled.

"Indeed. My Master Thief makes a good bed warmer."
