Chapter 33

I thought it would be easy to find Alice. I expected chaos upon seeing a Pureblood, but everyone looked casual.

We continued in and went straight for the general store where Hoff was showing something to a customer. When we walked in with Sarah, he noticed immediately and motioned for his assistant to finish talking to the customer so he could come over to us.

"I see you found Mis. Navarra alright." Hoff said.

"It's just Sarah." Sarah corrected.

"I see, well then, what are you here visiting me for?" Hoff asked.

"Has a vampire come in town?" I asked.

"Well sure. There are tons of vampires here. Anyone specific?" He questioned.

"A Pureblood?"

The customer and assistant both whipped their heads around to us in shock. "You brought a Pureblood here?" The customer asked.

"We didn't bring anyone. She came on her own." Akeno answered.

"I'm a Seer and that's a Fire Fox so don't you give me any crap." I growled. The two turned away from us, but I could tell their conversation was no longer focused on what was being sold.

"Look Mikky, we're in Stargazer land, the vampires here, don't kill people, and they don't like Purebloods because their afraid."

"What do the Stargazers do that has these guys so worried?" Akeno asked.

"They 'recruit' them." Sarah answered. "Even I could have told you that."

"Well. The Pureblood isn't a Stargazer if it makes you feel better." I mumbled.

"By that expression I can tell it's not a Nightshade either." He sighed. "Why is a Daybreaker coming to Yeager?"

I glanced at the two other people who were talking, getting a quick glance right back. "Not here." I answered. "I bet these idiots won't be able to keep their mouths shut."

"Come on back then." Hoff motioned behind the counter. The three of us walked behind and Hoff led us into the back room. He closed the door behind us and locked it before looking through the window so the two in the shop didn't move to listen. Then he pulled a blind over the window and motioned for me to continue.

"The Pureblood is here because Elysium called her here." I told him. "If that Pureblood comes here, you have to let us know."

"Of course I will." Hoff said. "I'll send a bird to you the second I see her."

Then, chaos happened. The customer that was talking to the assistant, slammed into the door, ripping it off the hinges, throwing the old man towards us. I managed to grab him and steady him, before drawing my sword and pointing it at the new threat that had broken down the door.

His eyes glowed red and he hissed at us before lunging at us. I pushed the old man behind me and slashed my sword forward cutting the vampire's arm off. He stumbled before collapsing on the ground, hissing in pain.

Then Sarah yelped as another vampire, who had snuck in the back, grabbed her from behind, his arm around her neck in a hammer hold.

However, Sarah must not have felt like being kidnapped because she elbowed a vampire with some electricity mixed in, and that vampire released her quickly, flying across the room and slamming into a pile of plates and other fine chinas.

"Akeno with me!" I called.

"Not so fast!" Came an all too familiar voice.

I spun my head around finding Lupa standing behind Akeno, a seal pressed to Akeno's forehead, her eyes half closed looking exausted. "You're 'Fire Fox' isn't going to save you this time."
