Chapter 17

I had to carry most of Minerva's weight as she was still drugged. She was stumbling around behind me so I sighed and pulled her arm over my shoulder so I could help her walk.

"No more drinking with my enemies unless I prepared the drink." Minerva growled.

"Good. It was a dumb move." I answered, helping her up the stairs.

"You're hot."

"Now is not the time for flirting."

"No. Your skin is hot." She corrected me.

"Oh. I merged with Akeno." I answered.

"You what!?" She yelped, but I covered her mouth as guards walked past our doorway talking loudly about them getting protection money from a poor shop keeper.

"Minerva!" I hissed in a whisper. "Keep your mouth shut, I'll explain later!"

"You better explain!" Minerva growled back.

I rolled my eyes and released her. When the guards past I helped her walk towards the front door and we stepped through without a hitch. The rest of the guards were protecting the King from me.

"Minerva, how do you open the gates?" I asked as I leaned her against a wall just before the gate.

"You have to find the wheel." She answered and pointed to a guard tower. "Its at the top."

I jogged over, finding the door sealed shut and I sighed. "Guess we're doing this the hard way."

I let my cat claws slide out of my fingertips and I lept on to the stone wall. My claws dug into it with ease and I climbed up quickly. I hopped into the guard tower and grabbed the guard from behind before pulling him down and putting him in a choke hold.

"Quietly! I don't need to kill you." I whispered to him, watching the guard on the balcony.

"I believe we need to kill you though." Someone behind me said. My eyes widened but before I could turn my ribs ached in a sharp pain. The guard behind me pulled the blade back as he pulled it out, tearing the gash opened wider. The guard I was choking got up as I crawled away, trying to escape them.

One of them stomped on my tail getting me to wail, the third guard came over with a laugh. "This is the Master Thief?" He asked. "She's a little bitch."

"Akeno, burn them." I said.

I felt her take control once again and she opened my palms at the first two, closest to me. Flames erupted from my hands, scorching them across their fronts. The cloth on their armor went ablaze, essentially cooking them inside the metal. They collapsed on the ground and the farthest one stepped back in shock.

"Sorcerer!" He yelled as I pulled myself to my feet.

"What did you expect? I stole the Blind Seers Eye and the Fire Fox from the King." I smirked as I put a hand over my wound to try and stop the bleeding.

"That was a Fire Fox?" He yelped, backing up against the wall.

"Yep." I smirked as I drew one of my swords, and Akeno lit the metal on fire for me. "Still think you can win?"

The man let out a cowardly cry before leaping from the window.

I chuckled then whined at my ribs. I sheathed my blade and walked over to the wheel and pushed it, getting the gate to open. I then collapsed on the ground beside it and pressed my back to the wall bellow it.

"This is going to hurt." Akeno told me. My hand lit on fire as she took control. She pressed the flaming hand into my wound to scorch it, stopping it from bleeding. I clenched my jaw tightly to keep from wailing and bringing more guards my way.
