Toby called Connor constantly since he left but his brown eyed friend didn't answer. He understood that he needed time to handle his business in Detroit but he was worried. It's day off and he wanted to go see Spencer. He was swamped with work but heard that she was hurt a month ago at school. He pulled his truck into the Hastings' driveway way. It was nice seeing the house he had been in so many times as a child.
Toby knocked on the door and waited. Mrs. Hastings answered the door and gasped.
Veronica "Toby! It's so good to see you."
Toby "You too Mrs. Hastings. Is Spencer here?"
Veronica "She's our of town for the week. I can call her and let her know you came. Maybe you can come again when she gets back."
Toby "Alright. Thank you Mrs. Hastings. Have a good day."
Veronica "You too Toby."
The young officer left the Hastings house and got back into his truck. He would have to come back when Spencer was home. He drove home and walked through the door. Sumo stood up but laid back down when he realized that it wasn't Connor at the door. He petted the St. Bernard and sat down on the couch.
He picked up his phone and looked at his contacts. Toby could call Yvonne, but she was again out of town for work. He didn't want to disturb a potential meeting. He looked at Connor's contact and reluctantly pressed it. Connor sat at his old desk at the Detroit Police Department and looked around. Captain Fowler agreed to let him sit there but not work. He sat across from Markus, who was sitting at Hank's old desk. Then, his phone rang.
