This was not the time to be panicking.  There are times when a clear head is needed most.

And that time was now.

Despite every impulse demanding she do something, Casey stayed perfectly still, gaze fixed on the knife held to Clarke's throat.

"Let her go!"

Finn had taken a subtle step forward with the demand. That cold metal blade being pushed closer against the flesh in answer, Murphy sneering with brovado.

"I will slit her throat."

There was no doubt in the brunettes mind he would do as he claimed. And Finn himself seemed to know as well, backing off reluctantly.

Murphy was self serving above all else, regardless of loyalty, respect, or what was considered right and wrong. He would kill her, if only to save himself.

"No!" Fingers flexing on the string of her bow Casey pulled it back on reflex, the strain from the tension making her shoulder burn. But also giving her something to focus on, center herself with as she met Murphy's gaze. "She's got nothing to do with this!"

Casey couldn't loose Clarke. Not like Wells. The woman able to see so vividly in her mind all the crimson that had slipped from Jaha's throat. There had been so much of it, so much blood.

She wouldn't survive seeing Clarke like that. Not this time. Not when it was her fault.

"It just you and me, Murphy..." Voice breaking the brunette blinked back the rising tears of terror that threatened to burst like a dam and rain for eternity. "This problems between just you and me."

Again that guilt Casey had seen in Murphy's expression appeared, but it could only be a lie. Just like before when he'd apologized for hurting her. If it was sincere he wouldn't be hurting her now.

"Bullshit! This all happened because of her!"

The guilt didn't linger, there and gone in a instant. Replaced with rage and impatience as John tightened his hold on the blonde. Clarkes features pinching in pain.

"No, please. Please don't hurt her."

Charlotte's plea fell from trembling lips. The girls entire body shaking in distressed despair. Casey able to feel those small hands quaking as they'd fisted in the back of her shirt.

Murphy's gaze lingered on the brunette a moment longer before moving to Bellamy, then to Charlotte herself.

"Don't hurt her? Okay, I'll make you a deal. You come with me right now, I will let her go."

"Don't do it Charlotte!"

Despite Clarkes warning, Casey felt the girls grip leave her. Charlotte shuffling forward as if she actually believed him. And after only a moment of hesitation the woman allowed her weapon to drop at her feet. Ocean eyes never leaving Murphy as she grabbed hold of the child, stopping her with a harsh whisper.

"Don't be stupid!"

Bellamy had stepped, deliberately and protectively, more in front of the two. His expression breaking as he shot them a desperate glance over his broad shoulder.

"Charlotte. Stop."

She faught against Casey's hold to no avail, tears swarming in her widened eyes as she cast the man a pleading look.

"No! No, I have to!"

His strong jaw ticked as Bellamy glanced to the brunettes freckled face. Vulnerability in his eyes as he looked to her for strength. Casey's panicked and desperate expression making that beast in his blood roar with rage.
