It was peaceful.
The morning sky overhead clear and blue. A subtle and pleasant breeze roaming across the land. That now constant smell of burning pine almost comforting as Casey made her way out of the dropship. Stretching out her sore muscles as she headed down the ramp. A smile finding it's way onto her lips as she noticed most delinquents were still lost to there dreams. The few who were out this early quietly and contently going about there business.
No constant buzzing of voices. No fighting. No bullshit. It was peaceful.
The woman in high spirits for the first time in what felt like eternity. Humming her mothers, and now Atoms, song as she practically skipped to the tent they'd been storing the food in. Casey greatly pleased at what she found within, though you wouldn't call it much by any standards. But what they had gathered only proved the 100 was adapting better than she'd originally thought. A sign they might not be doomed after all.
Grabbing two of the small 'ration' packs she turned to leave. Only making it a few steps towards the door when she heard it. A soft and subtle thud.
Ocean eyes glancing down in mild confusion to find one of the packs now on the ground by her feet. Weird. Not giving it much thought, perhaps cause she wasn't fully awake yet, the brunette shrugged bending down to retrieve it. Only for as her hand extended down and she willed it to grab hold. Nothing happened.
Her hand slack and lifeless. The constant numbness was something she'd just gotten use to. But this..... What was this?
Stubborn as ever she tried again. Placing her palm flat over the item and attempting to just pull her fingers closed. Figuring it would take less effort. And again. Nothing happened. The second fail bringing with it frustration and fear. But Casey refused to acknowledge that last part. Her brow furrowing in concentration as she crouched there. Repeatedly trying and repeatedly failing. It would be simple enough to grab it with her left hand. But that wasn't the point. Her other hand needed to work as well.
"Shit."
She wasn't sure how to feel in that moment. Or how long she'd been there, struggled through a most simple task. It was terrifying. It was humiliating. And she couldn't be more grateful for the fact of her seclusion. But not all battles could be won. So sending the item a hateful glare the woman walked past. Shaking that useless hand at her side in a attempt to bring back life to it. Though deep down the brunette feared she probably wouldn't be able to use it. Ever again.
Nope. Not even gonna think about this right now.
Casey left the tent with a forced smile to her features. Having not seen Wells in his spot downstairs her plans had been to grab them breakfast and take over watch. Those plans hadn't changed despite the delay and she also planned on getting every juicy detail. Clarke had spent quit a while outside last night. Wells even confirming thins were better.
As she flagged down a passing John the brunette decided the breakfast she'd managed to hold onto would be her friends. Wells going out late last night. Had been there awhile. Probably hadn't had breakfast taken to him either. Assholes.
"Casey."
The boy addressed her like a figure of authority. Said woman's nose crinkling in displeasure as she offered a smile at his nod. Wanting to get her information then leave.
"I'm relieving Wells from watch. Which post is he at?"
The dark boy thought for a moment. Giving her the chance to exam his features impassively. He was lanky, tall and thin, with a underlining set of muscle. But he carried himself aggressively. Explaining why Bellamy had chosen him as one of their 'gaurds', explaining why Casey got the impression she didn't like him.
