The line went dead on Dean's end and my phone tumbled to the ground. My breath quickly sped up, and I felt faint. My vision started to tunnel, and I jumped out of my seat at the lunch table. Everyone stopped to look at me, and I ran down the cafeteria until I reached the door. I swung it open with all my might and started sprinting down the school grounds. I had to leave. I needed to get to Dean, Sam, and Paige.
I heard a flutter of large wings, and then I heard footsteps running in time with me. I felt a hand on my shoulder, and I was in the bunker. I looked over to see Castiel already looking down the hall for everyone. I took off in the opposite direction, screaming at the tops of my lungs.
"DEAN, SAM, PAIGE!!" I screamed while I choked back sobs.
'What if I'm too late? What if they're already dead? No, I can't think like that. They're fine. They have to be fine.'
All the sudden I hear a faint rattling coming from my left. I stopped abruptly, skidding on the slippery floor a little. I faced the wall and stared at it. Then, I heard the rattling again. I could hear what sounded like voices, coming from inside the wall. My eyes went wide, and I knocked on it as loud as I can. Just as quickly as they started, the rattling and whispers stopped.
I pounded on the wall, "Alright listen up. I know you're in there. I could hear you. This is Annabelle. If that's Dean, Sam, and Paige in there, then would you guys please come out? If it's not those people, then you best hope Jesus is watching over your sorry ass, because I am not afraid to kill you," I glared at the door, waiting.
After about ten seconds of silence the wall started to turn. It was a secret door in the wall, and I would have never had known if not for the knocks. It looked like a perfectly still flat wall. There were no cracks or lines indicating a door was there.
When the door started to open I went into a fighting stance. Three figures approached the entrance, when I realized who they were I laughed in relief.
"Annabelle," Dean said as he stepped out with his arms open. I lunged at him and almost started to cry. He wrapped me up in his large arms, and did not dare to let go of me. I stared up at him and noticed the tear stains on his cheeks. His eyes were bright red, and he couldn't help but sniffle. I wiped away a stray tear from his face, and he hugged me tighter.
"You are not allowed to go back to school. Not now, not ever," he mumbled into my hair. I laughed because honestly who would want to go back? I would miss Beth, Sasha, and Christina but not as much as I would miss them if they died. If I had stayed at that school a moment longer, they would have. They would have found me and it would have been the end of anyone's life that was within a fifty mile radius of me.
I pulled away from Dean and noticed that Sam was rubbing his eyes. Was he crying too? When he opened his eyes my suspension was confirmed. The sadness he held in his eyes was that of a soldier that had just watched all of his men die. He smiled at me, and I grabbed for him. His tall body towered over me, but I buried my face in his chest. He laughed as he held me. His laughter was light and beautiful. He pulled back to look at me, and he brushed my face.
"You'll be okay, Annabelle. Always," he smiled sadly at me. I gave him a quick peck on the cheek and walked over to Paige.
I watched as she struggled to keep herself together. Her smile looked painful, and I hugged her just as tightly as Sam and Dean. She finally pulled away and rolled her eyes.
"I knew you would be fine. These dweebs just couldn't pull themselves together. We don't need to do the whole hugging thing. You're here now and that's what matters," she smiled fondly at Sam and Dean. I smiled and nodded, in an attempt to reassure them like Paige was. She didn't know how much Dean and Sam had lost, so it was only natural she would think it strange that they were crying over what seemed like nothing. In our line of work anything could happen, and she hadn't grasped that concept, yet. Because, she hadn't lost anyone, yet.
