As I got back into my car, I took deep breath before starting the engine and driving to my parents house. I haven't seen them for almost a year now and I've never even heard anything about them. I couldn't help but feel nervous and scared. Is this really the right time to forgive them about Kate? I mean, Kate and I are living happily together now and there's nothing else I can do to change the past. What is done, is what is done. There's no more going back and maybe the old saying, 'Forgive and forget!' is right. I should just forget everything and worry about what the future holds. Taking another big sigh, I got out my car and slowly walked towards the door. I knocked on it a couple of times but no one opened the door for me. Looking around, I saw my parents car parked outside their house and a few other cars, so I was pretty sure they were home. I heard people talking in the garden and smelt barbecue being cooked. The barbecue smelt so nice, so I followed it and saw my parents having a barbecue with a few friends. I hid behind a wall. My stomach felt like a rollercoaster. I was feeling so petrified and sick. Come-on, you have to admit, if you haven't seen your parents for a whole year you'd feel pretty nervous too. What if they hate me for leaving them? What if they've changed? What if they can't accept me? What if I can't do this?! Then I heard them talking... What a big mistake it was! 'When are you going to tell Alice the truth?!' Dad whispered to Mum, 'Its been a year now and she still doesn't know!' 'I don't know, Ian. I don't like Katelynn. I prefer Kate and she's living happily with her.' Mum replied. What the hell now?! Another secret they're not telling me. 'But Katelynn is her real daughter!' Dad snapped. What?! This is seriously not happening. I couldn't help but feel my stomach going acidic. Tears started forming at the corners of my eyes. My hands were shaking and sweaty. Katelynn was telling the truth and I rejected her! Now she hates me! My own real daughter hates me because of my parents lies,.. again! I can't take this anymore. Why are they being so selfish and heartless? I believed them yet again and made another mistake. 'SHSHHHH!!!' Mum explained, they both turned around and looked at their surroundings to check if someone heard them. Then.. they saw me...
