i arrived to school with chenle the next day. for some reason, it seemed like the whole school was watching us. as we walked to our class, we noticed a couple of people giggling and whispering, pointing at us. i tapped chenle on the shoulder.
"do you know what's going on?" i asked him.
"what do you mean? is something wrong?" he asked, putting his arm around me.
"not exactly... it just seems like everyone is staring at us." i said. he let the arm that rested on my shoulder slide down to hit his side.
"oh." he looked around and saw everyone's eyes glued on us. "yeah, i see that now."
all of a sudden, a boy stood in front of us, forcing us to stop our walking abruptly.
"hey, you're sooyoung right?" the boy said, looking at me with a curious smile.
i looked at chenle, then back at the boy.
"yes, i'm sooyoung. why?" i asked.
"my friend thinks you're cute, and he wanted to ask you if you wanted to join our group chat." the boy smiled hopefully, and i glanced to chenle. he tilted his head at me.
"remember, the bet." he hummed.
"i've got this." i whispered to him, smiling. i turned back to the boy in front of us. "yeah, go ahead. here's my number." i got out a piece of paper along with a pen from the boy's hand and wrote down my telephone number. he chuckled nervously and scurried away as soon as i handed him my contact information.
"see? that wasn't such a big deal." i told chenle, as we started to walk again. "i'm a rock. no one can break me or this bet."
i smiled triumphantly at him, making myself feel so confident on the outside, but on the inside, i still felt nervous for how it would play out.
on the way home, in chenle's car, i got a text from an unknown number, realizing it was from the group chat that boy put me in.
