A/N
So Voltron S8 was ok. I loved Honerva's story. She was one interesting villain, whose whole intention was summed up to trying to have her family back.

Also, Keith being Lance's emotional support this season is just,,sigh. I love them.

BUT THE THING IS

ALLURA. Voltron why. Just why.

Ok I'm not gonna rant here (y'all can rant with me on Twitter @ iSawJamesFirst2)

For now, do enjoy.

LANCE

The ding of the elevator followed with its gradual halt sent a flood of momentary panic into Lance's system. No doubt that somehow he had been dreading for the worst kind of scenario. His head, for all of its asinine reasons, clearly wasn't in the right state to get him through this interview, as if there was a tiny part of him that just didn't want him to succeed.

It took him several seconds to realise that he was on the right floor. He merely stared ahead as the doors slid sideways, his feet planted on the elevator floor, until the woman beside him spoke, "This your floor?"

That drew him from his preoccupation. "Wha— Oh! Yeah ... " Lance blinked. "Yeah, sorry, I – yes, this is ... my floor ..." He felt the tips of his ears go red as he exited and stared around the hallway, looking for directions.

Frustrated, he fished out his phone from his pocket and tapped on his messaging app where he'd been sent the office address. Room C – 8.3IV, he read, trying to engrave that into his brain as he began walking. Why are there so many numbers and letters ... 8.3IV, where are you ...

He nearly jumped when his phone buzzed in his hand, receiving a new text message from his dad.

Papi — You good, mijo?

Lance —

Lance — i've just arrived

Papi — Best of luck. I'm sure Mr Wright will find you competent. You're a McClain, after all

Lance — thanks, papi ...

Papi — Seriously. How are you?

Lance — im just nervous

Papi — Hey, it's not like you're interviewing for a real job. You'll be fine. Everything will be okay. Just breathe.

Papi — I'll stop bothering you now. Good luck, mijo

Lance sent another "thank you" with a shuddering breath. His father was right; he was probably overthinking the possible dreadful outcomes anyway. It wasn't as though this whole flight training scheme was vital at determining his future career. Still, he had been this fidgety ever since he filled in the admission form just the previous week. Even Pidge had to shove a whole burger into his mouth to shut him up during lunch break, earning a cackle from Rachel.

This term was passing by too quick. Lance hadn't realised that the first week of September had already passed when he received the e-mail calling him for an interview three days previously. For someone who was well versed at making himself appear presentable for special occasions, it took Lance more than an hour this morning to select an appropriate outfit for the interview. Eventually he ended up with a pair of fitting cream dress pants topped with a powder blue button-down, completing it with his favourite crimson tie, as suggested by his father after the man looked into the hassle that was Lance's room.
