Washington Airport

The second the wheels touched the ground, Jack was undoing his seatbelt. He was desperate to get off the plane. Kenny had to even push him back into his seat! "Mr President, stay calm!" Kenny tried to assure him everything would be fine. "Calm?" Jack asked in a whisper. "Calm?". "HOW THE HELL CAN I STAY CALM. MY WIFE HAS NEARLY DIED! SHE'S PREGNANT! I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF MY KIDS HAVE BEEN TOLD! HOW CAN I STAY CALM?" Jack roared.

Kenny didn't expect any of it. Jack scowled before disappearing into the private cabin. Soon there was a knock at the door. Jack came out. He forgave Kenny and Kenny forgave Jack. The bulbs of the cameras flashed as the President came off the plane and into the Presidential limosuine, setting off for the hospital.

GW Hospital

Jack stepped into the elevator before he arrived on Jackie's floor. It was a private floor, so she and Jack couldn't be disturbed. "Mr President" Dr Howard stepped forward and shook Jack's hand. "Dr Howard. Where is my wife?" Jack asked, tears once again building up. "She is just through there" Dr Howard pointed at a door, and before he knew it Jack went in.

He opened the door and looked. He closed it quietly and made sure the blind covering the window in the door, was down. He opened the curtains and let in a bit of light, but not too much. In case Jackie had woken up and she was sleeping. He took off his jacket and sat next to his wife. He looked at her, silent, cold body.

What if she never woke up? What if she died? Dr Howard was a doctor after all but Jack knew that doctors couldn't always be right about someone. He just had to go with what would happen.
