Jack woke up and rolled over to kiss his wife but was surprised to see she wasn't there. He looked around for her until he heard sobbing coming from her dressing room. He opened the door to see his wife in a state he'd never seen her in before.
Jackie's dressing room
Jackie was sitting at the dressing table, but with her head down. She had obviously heard Jack coming in and she raised her head slightly. Jack could see her face in the mirror. Her eyes were baggy and red and he could see some of her hair sticking to her face. When she realised this, she brushed them off her face. Jack came over. "Oh Jack I'm sorry" Jackie sobbed.
Jack took her over to the chaise lounge. "Kid what's wrong. You need to tell me. I can get you better" Jack tried to make her smile or at least get her to say why she was upset but it didn't work. Jackie just sobbed until she said quietly, "We..." she had to paused as it upsetted her so much. "We lost Patrick three years ago today" Jackie finally had enough strength to get it out.
Jack thought back. It was the day they dreaded. Visions of Patrick dying in his arms and the look on Jackie's face when he told her that he couldn't hang on.
He wrapped his arms around his wife and grieved with her. After about ten minutes, he rubbed her bump and she placed her hand gently on his. "I hope the twins are ok" Jackie breathed quietly. "They will be kid" Jack whispered. "They will be" Jack kissed her. They held hands and looked at one another. Whenever they thought of Patrick, they didn't just grieve. They also saw hope.
