Oval Office
January 2nd
Already being hungover, Jack was really annoyed that he had to finish up on business from before Christmas.
"Good morning brother" Bobby joked as Jack entered. Bobby stood with open arms, waiting for a hug but Jack just walked past him. "Not now Bobby, I've got a hungover" Jack flopped into the car, almost causing it to tip backwards.
"Oh, had a bit too much to drink have we?" Bobby laughed sitting down. Jack picked up a book and threw it at him. Bobby ducked and it luckily hit into the sofa, not breaking the vase sitting on the sideboard behind it.
"Yes I did but I don't care" Jack said, picking up his pen. "After all it's New Years".
For the day, Jack wrote letters, filled forms and made a few phone calls before he headed upstairs to the Residence. He decided to go via the underpass.
West Wing Underpass
As he walked back to the residence, Jack admired the thick layer of snow that had fell onto the ground the night before. He then noticed the Secret Service men outside. "Woah, what are all of you doing out here? In weather like this?" Jack was curious. He sat down next to one. "Mr President, we have been assigned to stand outside here, while you were indoors" one agent said.
Jack quickly dashed inside and got Mrs Lincoln. "Mrs Lincoln, get each agent out here a warmer coat and a cup of hot chocolate or coffee. Just something warm". Mrs Lincoln nodded. Jack then continued his way back upstairs.
Jackie's bedroom
Jackie sat at the edge of her bed. Her stomach hurt so badly. Probably just cramps. She ignored it as it went away soon. Suddenly, she heard Jack calling her name. She got up and walked slowly to her husband who was in Central Hall.
"Hey kid" Jack held open his arms and he embraced Jackie with a warm hug and a kiss. Jack sat his coat down and took off his shoes before they sat down on Jackie's bed.
"How was business today?" Jackie asked, as she helped Jack loosen off his back brace. "Oh it was ok. I missed you and the kids though" Jack said as he sat the brace on the carpet. "Well that's the difficulty of being President"
"But I didn't want to be President" Jack cried. He only did it as his father wanted him to. "I guess so. But if you had been a history teacher or a writer, where would we be?" Jackie asked. "Well after the 1968 election, we will live in Washington if that is ok with you" Jack looked at his wife, whom he had wrapped in his arms.
Jackie nodded in agreement. "I'll become a writer and I could write books about my political career for a start" Jack came up with all these ideas and to Jackie, they sounded brilliant. "And it would be a way we could watch the kids grow up as well as ourselves" Jackie suggested. Jack agreed immediately with that.
He actually couldn't wait until then as he hoped to have his own life and settle down with his own family.
