Emersyn
I woke up in a haze. Snatches of Octavian taking me three more times during the night came back to me, making my sex ache for him. The moon fever was always worse on the day of the full moon and even with everything that happened it still burned just under my skin. It didn't help that I was surrounded by Octavian's scent and heat. His large body was draped over mine.
                              "You're awake," he said.
                              "What time is it?"
"A little after 7am. The tracer stopped moving during the night. I sent someone I trust to check it out. Whenever you are ready we can rendezvous with them. It's a six-hour drive," he said against the skin of my back.
He blew his breath over my skin and I shivered. If he kept this up, we wouldn't be going anywhere for a while. I moved from under him and sat up.
"I need to stop by my apartment to get some fresh clothes and check in with my assistants to make sure my companies run smoothly in my absence," I said.
                              "Shower with me," he growled.
"We need to leave soon," I said.
"We need to keep the fever satisfied so it does not come back to bite us in the ass later," he said.
He was right. In the end we ended up making love up against the shower wall before we left for my pent house. Octavian was impressed with my place and for some reason that made me happy. He followed me room to room as I stripped and changed into something appropriate for fighting but left me alone as I made the phone calls and emails I needed to. I also checked for messages from Aylaiis or Wellesandra. Aylaiis was busy with vampire business in another country and Wellesandra hadn't responded which meant she was probably out with her team too. So, we had no help coming from them.
When I was done with business I found Octavian in my bedroom. He was trying to look casual, but I knew he was looking for evidence of a lover. He wouldn't find any, not even the mechanical kind. I watched him move around the place.
"Are you looking for something," I asked.
His eyes landed on mine. Hunger burned in them.
                              "Not in particular."
"You shouldn't care whether I have a lover or not, Octavian. You told me you hate the fae and you don't keep regular lovers because they are distractions. Unless you are fae struck," I said only teasing with the last bit.
"What makes you think I care?"
"Don't play dumb. It doesn't suit you. Sex is sex, but if you're looking for anything more than that you should be clear," I said.
"If you had another lover casual sex would much simpler."
"I don't plan on getting attached to you, if that's what you are worried about. I really didn't even plan on sleeping with you again. I've encountered males like you over my many years on this planet. You take what you want and discard it like it's nothing when you are done with it because it's not exactly what you wanted it to be."
Picking a fight was a good way to put some distance between the two of us with the moon being full. Octavian watched me for a long moment before he said anything. He came toward me, his eyes fading to amber. He touched the bite mark he had left on my neck. If it didn't fade after the last day of the full moon then, we would be bonded for an unknown length of time. I would want him constantly and be able to feel his emotions even from a distance. Up close it would be very intimate, too intimate and unless I marked him with more than just my nails it would be very one sided.
"I am not the man you think I am and I have never marked a female before last night. I marked you as mine at least for the moon. I don't plan on sharing you with any other male while you bare my mark. If you'd had another lover, I'm sure he would want to challenge me for making such a claim. I just wanted to be prepared just in case," he said.
