Jin Seo watched her angry friend stomp ahead, slowly falling behind due to her short legs. She was still reeling from the nights events, she had never expected to run into Han Bin. It had been months since she had last seen him, and quite frankly, she didn't ever want to see him again after the balcony break-up. She thought about how tightly he had held her, the feeling of his hands on her body, how he had chased away the drunk. It was a noble feat, sure, but she hated the idea of him touching her again. The person who had caused her so much pain and anguish laying his hands on her, and in such a loving way had made her want to vomit. On top of that, she had to face him while he had some other girl flinging herself all over him right in front of her. Jin Seo could practically feel the vomit in her throat thinking about Cling Wrap Girl and her whining.
Jin Seo shuddered, both from the cooling night and the thought that remained in her brain. Chan Woo noticed the small girls motion and quickly shrugged his jacket off, resting it over her shoulders. Jin Seo looked up at him, her face being met with a blank expression from him. Jin Seo smiled in thanks.
Ever since she had fallen and he had caught her, their small interaction had kept Chan Woo in the back of her mind. Jin Seo had to admit that she'd spent plenty of nights staring at her ceiling pondering him. She wasn't stupid or blind when she was younger, she had clearly seen that Chan Woo had at least some sort of interest in her... It just happened that Han Bin had her interest more. She wondered what it would have been like if she had shared the same interest in Chan Woo... Would they have gotten together? What would her life look like now if she had made a different decision back then? Would she have been happy..? happier?
Jin Seo shook her head, trying to fling the racing thoughts from her mind, her head hurt from trying to comprehend both the past and present at once. Chan Woo was watching her the entire time and had seen the montage of emotions that had flashed across her face, curiosity begged him to ask what she was thinking of.
"What's wrong?" He asked quietly.
"I'm just thinking... about tonight... about..." Jin Seo sighed, her eyes wandering the sidewalk in front of them, "about other nights... It's just a lot going on right now." She let out another sigh, one almost filled with frustrated laughter. Her hands came up to rub at her eyes, thinking maybe the added pressure would surely push out the crowd in her mind.
"Do you want to talk about it? If it's bothering you enough maybe it'll help." Chan Woo offered, he didn't want to push her into telling him, but more wanted to ease her struggle.
Jin Seo stopped and looked at him, her eyes searching his face for some sign of how he used to look at her... Some sign of how she longed he would look at her again.
"Can we not go back yet... Can we go sit at a park or something?" Her eyes pleaded with Chan Woo and he nodded, taking her hand in his he led her off, straying from the path behind Go Eun and Jun Hoe in front of them. Chan Woo hid his smile at the feeling of their hands clasped together, and he didn't see Jin Seo hiding the same smile as he tugged her along behind him.
They came to a stop under a street lamp on the edge of a park down the street from the apartment complex. Hands still clasped together, Jin Seo spotted a bench and took the lead on towing Chan Woo behind her towards it. As they sat next to each other, Jin Seo's cheeks flushed and she pulled her hand out of his grasp, setting it in her lap. Chan Woo's cheeks burned and he cleared his throat awkwardly.
"So... Tell me what's on your mind." He leaned back on the bench, keeping his eyes trained on her face. Jin Seo began tugging on her fingers, her eyes focusing on the rings that she slid in circles.
"Do you ever wonder how things could have been different?" Jin Seo spoke softly, "What would it be like if we had never become friends? I don't like that thought at all, you're as dear a friend to me as Go Eun and I think I would die if I lost you... but... Maybe then I never would have met him... Han Bin..." Jin Seo's voice became shaky, she didn't want it to come across as though she blamed her friendship with Chan Woo for the ensuing relationship with Han Bin. However, it was true; she met Han Bin through Chan Woo, it was just her decisions that brought her to where she was today.
