One Month Later...
Jin Seo stumbled into the apartment and looked up to see a disappointed, bed-time ready Go Eun sitting on the couch, the dull light from the single lamp on in the room barely lighting her. Jin Seo slid down the door until her butt hit the ground and began to untie her shoes and kick them off. Her vision was swimming and black dots began to dance across the room. She began giggling as she stared over at Go Eun.
"Y-you look *hiccup* like... like a... mom!" She laughed, her body rolling over into the fetal position. Go Eun sighed and stood up.
"You're sloshed... as usual. Not surprised..." She walked over to Jin Seo and crouched in front of her. "Come on, Jin Seo, it's Tuesday..." Jin Seo kept laughing on the floor. "Well, what's Tuesday anyways when you're coming home drunk every night." Go Eun grabbed Jin Seo by the shoulders and sat her up. Jin Seo stopped laughing and looked Go Eun in the eye. "Jin Seo... You've got to stop doing this... It's been a month. A month of you crying, drinking, and going to work hungover. You can't keep this up, it's not good for you or anyone else."
Jin Seo looked down at her hands in her lap. She played with her fingers as she felt her tears begin to well up. It was true. She had fallen into an alcoholic state after her breakup... She didn't know that it would become her crutch as time went on. "I just... It's easier to deal with a hangover at work *hiccup* than it is to deal with these feelings..." Her tears began to fall thinking back to that night on the balcony, how it felt to have the crushing weight of heartbreak fall on her. It felt like a giant shadow had been following her around, hovering over every step, choking every breath, and haunting every dream.
Jin Seo shook her head and looked up at Go Eun. "You're right... I need to get it together... Maybe... we just go out on weekends?" Go Eun sighed, but resigned to agreeing since it seemed to be the only way to keep the weekday day-drinking at bay.
"Alright... Weekends only! Now, come on, let's get to bed, we have work in the morning." Go Eun helped Jin Seo up and patted her on the back, sending her towards her bedroom. Go Eun waited for the door to close before she shut the lamp off and went to her own room.
Go Eun laid down and stared at the ceiling. It was difficult for her to watch Jin Seo self-destruct over the past month. She had started drinking after two days of crying, Go Eun had had to make sure that some form of water made it into her system otherwise the girl would have dried up. However, while Jin Seo was falling apart, unable to deal with the abandonment she felt, Go Eun was struggling to save her relationship. She loved Ji Won, they had been together longer than Jin Seo and Han Bin, but she refused to share a room with Han Bin. As much as she loved her boyfriend, the idea of looking at Han Bin sent a murderous shiver through her. That jackass had ripped apart her best friends heart, throwing a happy, sunshine-like being into a downward spiral of depression. Go Eun wasn't the type to let someone who had hurt her friend so much off the hook, which was causing strain for her and Ji Won. It was often a choice for Ji Won on whether he wanted to hang out with his girlfriend or his best friend.
It hurt her to see how broken Jin Seo had become since their split, but it hurt to feel her and Ji Won growing apart, as well. Go Eun could sense that a decision was approaching her and Ji Won... and it was going to be one that could make or break them.
Three Weeks Later...
Jin Seo had gotten a call from Chan Woo asking if she and Go Eun wanted to go to lunch with him and Ji Won. Chan Woo had been trying to be around for Jin Seo this past month or so, he was usually the one who took her home from the bars or accompanied her there. He never drank, only sat and watched over her, making sure no one bothered her and that she stayed safe. Once Jin Seo had (sort of) sobered up over these past few weeks she felt extremely indebted to Chan Woo. He protected her when she was in an incredibly vulnerable state and she was extremely grateful for that.
