Jin Seo and Chan Woo waved goodbye as their friends pulled away from the front of his apartment building. Jin Seo's hand hadn't left his since they had left the hospital and she had no intention of releasing her grip any time soon. As they walked up the stairs to his apartment they shared the same thoughts of the events that had just gone down. The car accident, the reveal of their relationship, and the fight. A day that had meant to be spent as bonding time with close friends had turned into a day where lines were drawn and wedges shoved between friendships.
It had definitely gone down hill.
Chan Woo opened his apartment, leading Jin Seo inside to the living room where they sat on the couch. Jin Seo laid her head on Chan Woo's shoulder while his thumb rubbed over the back of her hand. The silence between the two was heavy and hard to overcome, Jin Seo was the one to break it.
"What just happened?" She asked quietly, almost to herself. She felt Chan Woo's chest rise as he breathed in deeply and let out a loud sigh. His head shifted to rest on top of hers.
"I have no idea, but I hope it never happens again." The silence took over once more. The only light was from the sun shining through the curtains, leaving the two to ponder in the semi-dark apartment. Jin Seo finally detached her hand from Chan Woo's only to latch it around his waist as she huddled closer into his side. Chan Woo pulled her in closer, placing his arms around her small body, and placed a small kiss on her head.
"I meant it. What I said back there... in the hospital." Jin Seo whispered, her voice shook as she sat on the edge of tears once again. She bit her lip to keep them from falling, not wanting to shed anymore that day. Chan Woo pet her hair as he listened to her quiet sniffles.
"I know... You wouldn't say it if you didn't." He replied assuredly, continuing to run his hand over her soft hair. Jin Seo looked up to meet his gaze, her eyebrows drawn together in concern with a hint of frustration.
"I'm just so happy right now. I'm so happy with you and where my life is, I'm almost done with school and I have a great internship. What you don't know is how worried I was when he pulled me away from you. I was worried that in that moment this happiness would slip away. I know it doesn't sound plausible but he took it away once... so why couldn't it happen a second time? I can't lose my happiness again, I don't want to spiral, I want to be next to you, just like this. I don't want to be pulled away again, by anyone, ever." Jin Seo's watery eyes had erupted into waterfalls as she stumbled over the words she was trying to convey to Chan Woo. "I just... *hiccup* I just-just- *hiccup* I love you so much!" She sputtered. Jin Seo brought her hands up, wiping away her tears and struggling to regain her composure.
Chan Woo sat there, his hands resting on her waist and his face drawn in distress at the sight of his blubbering girlfriend. It was his first time hearing those words from her. Jin Seo finished drying her eyes and took a deep breathe.
"I love you." She stated clearly and confidently, nodding her head afterward as an affirmation to her words. She didn't expect him to say it back, it wasn't necessary, she could wait for him to say it in his own time, but she needed him to know her honest feelings. She loved him, and while she was busy trying to be the sunlight in everyone else's life, he was the sun in hers.
Chan Woo removed his hands from Jin Seo's waist and brought one up, covering his mouth. He bit one of his fingers as he smiled, thinking about her small declaration. He leaned forward quickly, squishing her cheeks with his hands and planting a kiss on her puckered lips. He pulled away, a smile still planted on his face.
"I love you too." He laughed after he said it and pulled Jin Seo into his lap, pressing her head into his chest as he cradled her. "I love you very, very much." Chan Woo chuckled, finally able to say the words he had held off for so long. Jin Seo blushed as she hid her face into his chest, a soft laugh escaping her lips.
A few moments of cuddling was interrupted by Chan Woo's rumbling stomach, causing them both to erupt with more laughter.
"We should order a pizza... Let's just stay in tonight and watch a movie or something." Chan Woo said, reaching for his phone and searching for the pizza place's phone number. "We should go on a date sometime this week too."
Jin Seo smiled, nodding her head eagerly at the idea, it had been awhile since they had gotten the chance to go out, school and work keeping them up to their necks in busy work.
The rest of the night was spent on the couch, an empty pizza box on the coffee table, and a movie playing on the tv. Chan Woo's head lay in Jin Seo's lap, her finger running through his hair as he dozed off. She smiled looking down at his features, softer now that his face was relaxed in blissful sleep.
"Chan Woo... Chan Woo..." Jin Seo whispered softly, not wanting to wake him but deciding it was time for him to go to bed and her to go home. "You gotta get up, you don't want to sleep on the couch do you?" She shook him softly, causing him to grumble sleepily and role on his side. Jin Seo giggled and shook him again, "Come on, let's get you to the bedroom."
Chan Woo sat up, his hair ruffled and his eyes half-open. He stood up from the couch and trudged to the bedroom, flopping down halfway onto his bed while his arm and leg hung off the side. Shaking her head Jin Seo went over and managed to maneuver the rest of his body on the bed. She leaned down and kissed his forehead.
"Goodnight, I'll talk to you tomorrow." As she turned to leave she was restrained by a hand on her wrist. She turned around and looked down at Chan Woo looking up at her, a frown on his face. He yanked her gently down onto the bed and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her to lay down next to him. He buried his face into the crook of her neck.
Jin Seo's face flushed at the feeling of his breathe on her neck and struggled to remove herself from him. "I really need to go, come on, let go." Chan Woo shook his head, pressing closer to Jin Seo.
"Just stay here tonight. You should watch me to make sure I don't die in my sleep anyways, I did get into a car accident today, the doctors might have missed something and I could be really hurt. It's best if you just stay, it's the logical thing to do." He mumbled, his lips brushing along the skin of Jin Seo's neck causing her to freeze. "Also... I want you to stay." He added. Chan Woo lifted his head to look at Jin Seo's red face, he smiled and kissed her forehead softly before laying back down and drifting back into his peaceful sleep.
Jin Seo remained in his arms, eventually relaxing and finding a more comfortable position to lay in while Chan Woo's arm lay across her. Jin Seo fell into what she would claim to be the best night of sleep she's ever had.
