~ Graduation~
After the ceremony, Jin Seo and Chan Woo gathered with the rest of their group. Dong Hyuk had a break in his touring show and had the opportunity to join them. Yoon Hyung had come from Busan and Jin Hwan and his wife came along to celebrate as well. Go Eun and Jun Hoe joined shortly after finishing greeting their families. The small troop stood in front of the college chatting and reminiscing. Chan Woo checked his watch and grabbed Jin Seo's hand, breaking her conversation with Jin Hwan's wife, Soo Hyun.
"Sorry guys, Jin Seo and I better take off, the movers will be coming soon. Thanks for coming, it was great to see everyone." Chan Woo and Jin Seo hugged their close friends and waved as they walked towards the parking lot. Chan Woo had saved up and bought a car, earlier in the year so they could stop taking the bus from his apartment.
The movers had brought the boxes of Jin Seo's belongings from her and Go Eun's apartment and were filing in placing them in Chan Woo's living room. The couple had made the decision to move in together after graduation since Jin Seo had secured a spot at a therapy center and Chan Woo was promoted at his company.
Go Eun had sat down with Jin Seo prior to the decision being confirmed and reminded her of the consequences of moving in together too early and that removing her stuff from an ex's apartment was a one time deal that had been used up already. Jin Seo had laughed and promised that if (she emphasized if heavily) something like that were to happen again she would take the responsibility of moving out on her own.
When the movers had left Chan Woo and Jin Seo sat on the couch. The worry of living together hadn't been extreme since they practically spent most nights together. This didn't stop Jin Seo's heart from racing at the thought that she no longer would be leaving for home in the morning, because she was already there.
Chan Woo stood and made his way over to the closest box and began to open it. "We should unpack your stuff before it gets to late." He said as he removed the stacks of books that sat inside the box. Jin Seo smiled and stood, walking over and crouching next to him as she pulled another box over to unpack it.
"It's nice to be home." She whispered. Chan Woo chuckled from beside her.
"It's nice to have you home."
~2 1/2 years later~
Jin Seo listened as Go Eun discussed intently with the florist over the flower arrangements for the wedding. Jin Seo payed little attention, only looking over and giving her approval when Go Eun called out to have her confirm a specific flower or ribbon for the vases. Her hands fluttered over the mass varieties of flowers that she roamed about, thoughts of what she would pick for her future wedding coming to mind and quickly exiting as she stared at her bare ring finger.
Jin Seo didn't think that Chan Woo wouldn't propose, he just hadn't gotten around to it. Since they graduated she was busy running the speech therapy program for children at her facility, often having to leave early in the morning or staying later than usual as she was the head of her team and was required to attend faculty leader meetings and schedule her team members. She was a very busy girl, and Chan Woo was no different. He had been promoted as the chief technician at his company and was busy with his own work.
Nevertheless, Jin Seo and Chan Woo made sure that their work didn't get in the way of their relationship. Each of them made sure they were home no later than 8 p.m. and they spent weekends going on dates, seeing their friends, or staying home to spend their alone time together. While adult life had taken them hostage, it didn't separate them in the least.
Jin Seo was snapped out of her thoughts as Go Eun tapped her on the shoulder.
"We can go now, everything's been taken care of." Go Eun said, leading Jin Seo out of the flower shop. The light spring breeze gently blew at the girls' hair as they walked down the sidewalk towards a café. As the girls sat down, Go Eun noticed how spaced out Jin Seo seemed.
"Hey, what's up with you?" Jin Seo glanced at her with a confused expression.
"What do you mean?" She asked
"You're spacing out, what's on your mind?" Go Eun asked, taking a sip of her coffee.
"Oh... I guess I was just wondering if Chan Woo would be proposing soon..." Jin Seo sighed and gazed out the window at the people walking outside.
"Have you said anything to him?" Go Eun drew her attention back inside the café.
"No, I guess I could do that, huh?" Jin Seo laughed a little, a plan already forming in her head.
The two girls continued to chat, talking about the wedding that was only weeks away and everything that still needed to be done. When they went their separate ways it was late afternoon and the sun had only just begun to make it's way towards the horizon.
Jin Seo unlocked the door to her apartment and stepped inside to hear the desperate sounds of Chan Woo attempting to cook in the kitchen. Jin Seo peaked around the corner to see his eyes frantically scanning a cook book and stirring something that appeared to be smoking in a large pot.
"What on earth are you doing?" Jin Seo laughed as she made her way behind him to peer over his shoulder and see just what monstrosity he had tried to create this time. Chan Woo sighed and turned the burner off as they both starred at the unappetizing soup that rested in the pot.
"I was trying for samgyetang, but I think we may have to settle with ordering in tonight." Chan Woo scratched the back of his head and laughed at the mess in the kitchen. "Why don't you pick what you want and order while I clean this up." Chan Woo began picking up and Jin Seo sat at the dining table scrolling through her phone in search of her favorite chicken place.
The doorbell rang a short while later and Jin Seo payed for the food and brought it to the dining table as Chan Woo washed his hands and came to join her. As they began to eat Jin Seo kept getting drawn into her thoughts and the need to ask Chan Woo what she wanted.
"Chan Woo." She set down her chicken leg and wiped her hands as she turned in her chair to face him. He hummed acknowledgement while he continued to chew his food.
"I want to marry you." It wasn't exactly the way she had planned to say it, she was more inclined to asking him when they would get married or when he would propose, rather than proposing herself. Instinct had taken over and the words had left her mouth before she could stop them.
Chan Woo froze, his mouth full of chicken. He turned to face her with an eyebrow raised. He remained silent for a minute even after swallowing, causing Jin Seo's stomach to clench in anticipation.
"Well, alright, but that kind of ruins my proposal." Chan Woo then got up from the table and disappeared into the bedroom, returning a moment later with a black, velvet box. He knelt down in front of Jin Seo, and opened the box to reveal a simple but gorgeous diamond ring.
"I want to marry you too, so, how about it? Be my wife?" Chan Woo's voice was gentle and quiet, and his hands were warm as he placed the ring on Jin Seo's finger while she nodded happily and a classic Jin Seo smile plastered her face. Once the ring was on her finger, Jin Seo made her way into Chan Woo's arms, hugging him tightly with little to no intent of letting go anytime soon.
"Hey now, you can hold on to me for the rest of our lives, but right now we need to finish this chicken before it gets cold." Chan Woo laughed and Jin Seo joined in as they turned to finish their meal together.
