Chapter 16

Gray comes back with ice in 2 ziplock bags. "Here put that on your arm and one on your hip" he instructs. "Thanks" I say and look into his eyes. I can't seem to figure out if he's a total fraud or genuinely a kind person.

"Here I'll press it on your hip" he says as we sit down on the bench. "Why are you helping me?" I ask "because I caused this" he replies and looks into my eyes again. "But you were mean all week" I reply looking down. "Sorry about that." He sighs.

That's it no explanation, nothing? "We should head back" I say. "Are
You sure you can play" he asks. "If I don't I'll regret it" I reply then open the door so both of us can come out.

"Ivy!" Jacob yells. "Hey Jay" I ask and he runs up to hug me, I chuckle but I'm in complete pain from his grip. I look at Grayson who just looks at us and rolls his eyes. Jay let's go of my grip and looks next to me to see Gray, Jay smiles at him and says "hi Jacob nice to meet you, your Ethan's brother right?" Jacob asks.

"What do you think?" Grayson says rudely and points to his face then gives me a dirty look and leaves. "Ok well anyways are you okay" Jacob says not even caring about what Gray just did but I did, I looked behind Jay to see an angry Grayson walking back to the field.

"Hello earth to Ivy!" He says and tries to get my attention by waving his hands in front of my face. "Oh yeah I'm great, just excited to play again" I say faking a chuckle. "Good. Cause you did amazing and I'm really proud of you" he smiles and I smile at him. He is just so adorable.

"Anyways I wanted to ask you something after you win your game so can you meet me in this same spot right after your game" he asks and smiles. "Of course" I say. "Okay well I should get back now." He says "wish me luck" I chuckle as he goes up.

I finally stop fake smiling and groan in pain. "Owowowow" I say as I walk. "Okay we can get through this we can play!" I whisper to hype myself up.

"Dickens good to have ya back." Coach says and hits my arm in a friendly way. Grayson just looks at me knowing I'm in pain. "Okay boys and Ivy, here's the plays, Dolan don't dissapoint." He says and looks at Gray. Gray smiles and says "yes sir" and then goes back into the field.

I put my helmet on and run painfully to the field. "Down set hut" I say as I go looking out for Grayson who still wasn't open and again finding the same issue we faced last time I ran to the end zone myself.

15 seconds left in the game, Gray finally pulled himself back together and scored 2 touchdowns before the end. If only he played like that from the beginning. I ran about 7 of our touchdowns and we have had 11. 2 scored by Gray, 1 by Jake, and another one by Dylan.

We are 2 points under and if we don't get this touchdown we lose. I look out to the field and see my mom and brother all looking really excited. I hope I don't disappoint.

"Down set hut" I yell out loud. Here we go. I ran side to side looking for someone open, same situation everyone was blocked. I can run it I'm in so much pain and we have 10 seconds. I risk everything and throw it to Gray, hoping he would understand what I meant when I point my right hand to the right a bit then throw it.

I close my eyes in hopes that he understands me. 9..8 everyone counts down loud. He catches it oh my god he catches it. "Perfect throw by Dickens that got Dolan right to the end zone, that's game, they won by 4 points" the guy yells.

Everyone cheers and comes down then cheer Grayson on and put him on his shoulder.

I see all my family and friends plus Jake running to me. "Ivy you won" mom yells and hugs me. Nate comes too and hugs me. "Wait I don't get it why is Grayson getting all the cheering, it should be you, he scored three touchdowns and you did 7 touchdowns, you basically gave him that last one" Jake says.

"It's fine, we won Jake" I yell and jump up and down. "Jacob!" I yell and remember. I was so excited to see what he had to ask.

"Okay helmet hair?" I ask Julia, Aliah and Cindy. "Nope, Wait tuck this curl behind your ear" Aliah says. "Sweaty?" I ask. "A little but I have perfume" Cindy says. "Perfect?" I say as she sprays it on to me.  Mom whiles the sweat with a tissue, I feel grossed out but it's the best I can do.

"Go get em" mom says and smiles.

I walk over to the field really anxious about what Jays about to ask me. "Ivy" he says and gets up from his lean from the wall. "Hey" I chuckle.

"What did you want to ask me?" I ask. "Wait ow do you look so perfect after a game" he asks. "Do I?" I chuckle lie. "Aha I saw you getting ready and spraying perfume, it's cute I like it, but just so you know you look all perfect no matter what" he says and smiles then tucks the same curl that I just tucked behind my ear.

"So I uh I wanted to know because we had gone on like two dates and hung out a lot, I really like you, I just wanted to know if you wanted to be my girlfriend" he asks. I tried to play it off cool, but I was jumping up and down on this inside. "Absolutely" I smile. "I mean I would love to be your girlfriend" I say, I hear someone behind us and I look behind to see an angry Grayson who slams the locker room door after he looks at me.

"What's his problem? You just won a game?" Jacob asks confused. "I don't know but Uh Anyways I would love to" I say. He smiles and then hugs me, I feel so safe around his arms. He looks into my eyes and leans in then kisses me. "Eew get off my sister man that's gross" I hear Nate say then we both chuckle.

"Listen I'm going to go into the change room and grab my stuff so then we can all head to my place" I say then he nods with a big smile. "Hunny Jacobs driving you so we will just meet you back home okay" mom says and I nod my head in reply.

I come out of the change room and then see Jacob I walk to him and he side hugs me and I smile. I'm in so much pain. "Are you okay?" He asks. "Check her arm and hip" Grayson says as he walks by angrily. "What?" Jay asks confused. "Let me see" he says. "Okay" I say then lift up my sleeve to show him a now purple greenish bruise that got worse.

"Ivy oh my god" he says and looks at me. "Let me see the hip" Jacob says. I lift down my pants a bit. Okay now it's bad, it's kind of green with a dark purple look and it was bigger than when I checked last time. "When did this happen?" He asks. "2nd quarter, that tackle at the end" I reply. "Why did you lie" he asks and gives a warm smile. "I didn't want people to think that my first game and I ditch my team 2nd quarter just because of a tackle" I sigh.

"Well I'm proud of you for sticking through, it's really badass of you. Come on let's get you home to put some ice on it" he says and smiles. "Okay" I chuckle. It was great that I got to go, but it was even worse that I knew Gray would be there, whatever I won't even go next to him.
