Chapter 1

The Worst Summer

After Avatar Aang ended his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he had had a fun summer break, and he assumed that every summer would be like this. However, he was terribly wrong. He and his friends were currently experiencing one of the worst summer’s that could ever occur. This was because they were forced to spend the summer with Harry Potter’s dreadful relatives, the Dursley’s. They had to spend summer with them because of last summer, when Aang and Harry were both locked in Harry’s room, and Aang’s friends had to save them, and had a spat with the Dursley’s.

Because of this summer, the gaang was very eager to get back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, a school for young wizards, that had started allowing benders, or people that can manipulate the elements, into the school. Hogwarts was a home away from home for everyone in Team Avatar, as well as Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley. It was a place that had both fun and danger, something that the friends seemed to attract. However, Aang wasn’t entirely excited to return to his second home because of what transpired in his second year.

Halfway through his first year, Aang had started dating the love of his life, Katara. However, Fan Chang, a new face at Hogwarts that came the previous year, kissed Aang, which led to Katara breaking up with Aang. Ever since, Aang had been heartbroken, and that made this summer ten times worse. Next year, he would see Katara, and he wondered if they could ever be friends again. The others had tried to cheer Aang up in several ways; Bao would ask Aang to recount his adventures from when he was released from his iceberg, but that only reminded Aang of Katara; Harry would try to remind Aang of Quidditch, the wizard sport he and Harry both played, and that they would win cup this year, but that reminded Aang of how Katara always cheered for him; Toph thought earth-bending would help, and it did, but the Dursley’s said that if they do any unnatural things one more time they’d get beaten. All in all, nothing cheered up Aang this summer, and he doubted he would cheer up this summer.

This wasn’t the only problem about the summer; whenever Aang would walk near Fan, she would run off. Aang wanted to still be friends with her, but she didn’t seem to want to talk to him. “She’s probably just embarrassed” said Harry, as he and Aang sat on the roof of the Dursley’s house one cold night. “She shouldn’t be” said Aang. “I know I said that I didn’t like her that way, but I still like her.” “I know Aang” said Harry, as the two looked up at the stars.

“So” said Aang. “How does it feel being thirteen?” “Not really a difference” said Harry. “All that’s happened was that I grew taller.” “Yeah well, you’re older that you were yesterday” said Aang, as the noise of wings was heard. Three owls, two supporting one, were flying towards them, and at least seven other owls were right behind them. They flew into Harry’s room, and both he and Aang used air-bending to get to the window. They climbed into Harry’s room, and saw Errol, the Weasley family’s owl, on the ground, looking like it would die. Harry took off the parcel attached to Errol’s leg and placed him in Hedwig’s cage, where he got water. Harry then saw that Hedwig and another owl were right behind them. Harry took off the letter from the unknown owl, and it then flew out, and the seven other owls flew in. Aang and Harry both took the letters off of them, and the owls flew off. “From Hogwarts” said Aang, as he saw all of the letter’s bearing the Hogwarts crest.

“Oh gosh” said Harry. “Mr. Weasley won a grand prize of galleon’s. The Weasley’s are using it to go to Egypt.” “That’s great” said Aang, as he looked at what Ron had gotten Harry for his birthday. “It’s a Pocket Sneakoscope” said Harry. “Apparently, if there’s someone untrustworthy near, it light’s up and spin’s.” “Hopefully it works” said Aang. Suddenly, the Sneakoscope lit up and started spinning. Harry looked at Aang, who said “I swear I’m very trustworthy.” “It’s probably broken” said Harry, as he placed it on his desk, and it kept spinning. “Wow Hermione” said Harry, as he opened Hermione’s present. “It’s a Broomstick Servicing Kit. Also, Hermione’s spending her summer in France.” “Figures” said Aang. “Our friends are having a better summer than us. Why’s it always us?” he asked as he shook his head. Aang then watched as Harry picked up his last parcel, a present from Hagrid, which seemed to have eight books in it. Harry opened it, and eight books fell out.

The covers said The Monster Book of Monsters, but as they finished reading them, they flipped onto their edge and they started scuttling across the floor. “The Dursley’s will hear” said Harry, as he went after one, but it snapped shut on his hand. “I got it” said Aang, as he covered them all with air. Then, Harry and Aang both put belts around the books, before putting them down. “Hagrid says they’ll come in handy next year” said Harry. “They’re for each of us.”  “If this’ll come in handy next year” said Aang. “What could we possible be doing?” Harry shrugged as Aang started thinking about their third year, and what crazy things would happen this time.
