Chapter 3

The Knight Bus

“Harry! Harry, wait up!” Harry was several feet away from the rest of the gaang, who had just started to run and catch up with him. “Harry” said Aang. “What happened back there?” “Well” said Harry. “I think I’m getting expelled from Hogwarts.”

“What?” Aang asked, as they all stopped in the middle of a dark road. Harry sat down on a curb, and Aang followed. “Why do you think you’re expelled?” Aang asked. “Because” said Harry. “He looked at them all, sighed, and said “I sort of blew my Aunt Marge up.” They all went silent and stared at him, before Toph asked “Like, exploding?”

“No” said Harry. “I sort of blew her up into a balloon.” “Oh” said Aang. “Well, you didn’t mean to do it, right?” “No” said Harry. “But, I still did it. I’m still going to get expelled. You saw what happened last year. I got a warning, and this time I’ll probably get expelled.” “Don’t worry Harry” said Bao. “We can just get out of here ad maybe find out.” “No” said Harry. “If we go anywhere, then someone will find us, and you might go down with me.” “But, if we stay here, then the Ministry will still find us” said Aang. “We need to go somewhere.”

“I need to leave you guys” said Harry. “I’m probably a criminal now.” “You’re not a criminal” said Zuko. “You just made a mistake. I’m sure if you explain everything, then the Ministry will understand.” “I don’t know” said Harry. “They could, I guess, but I don’t want to risk it.” “Really?” Aang asked. “Harry Potter not wanting to take a risk.” Harry looked at Aang, who said “You are a strong person Harry, and you are brave. No matter what, we are sticking by your side until the end.” Harry nodded, and stood up.

“Guys” said Fan’s small voice, in a fearful tone. They looked at her, and she pointed across the road at two bushes. They followed her eyes towards the bushes, and only saw darkness. Suddenly, two big white circles appeared, and they realized that what they were looking at were eyes. A pair of pure white eyes on a black sort of animal. It seemed to stand up on its four legs, and they saw that it was very large, and looked very intimidating. Harry raised his wand and said “Lumos” and a white light appeared at the tip.

They then saw that the animal looked like a black dog that was very large. Before they could do anything however, there was a large bang, and they all jumped back onto the sidewalk, Harry falling over. A large triple-decker purple bus stood before them, and a man in a purple uniform stepped out.

He cleared his throat and spoke. “Welcome to the Knight Bus, emergency transport for the stranded witch or wizard. Just stick out your wand hand, step on board, and we can take you anywhere you want to go. My name is Stan Shunpike, and I will be your conductor this evening.” He took his eyes off of the card he was staring at and looked at the large group before him. He then looked at Harry and said “What are you doin’ down there?” “I fell over” said Harry. “’Choo fell over for?” sniggered Stan, showing off yellow teeth. “He didn’t do it on purpose” said Aang. “Okay baldy, I din’t mean to talk like that.”

Harry had stopped listening; he was looking across the road at the bushes, and so was Bao. “Whatever that thing was” said Bao. “It’s gone.” “You look familiar” said Stan, staring at Aang’s arrow. “’Choo the Avatar?” “Yeah” said Aang. “Well, my life’s interesting” said Stan with a smirk. “Well, come on board then.” Harry grabbed his trunk and led the way on the bus, as Stan asked “Where you want to go?” “This bus can take us anywhere?” Harry asked. “Yep” said Stan. “Anywhere.”
