Media: Someone You Loved- Lewis Capaldi

A/N: Okay, so this is a short chapter compared to the others (1500 words), but I just wanted to get back into the routine of writing.

As a gift to you all, I promise we are finally going to get some, uh, action, between Nick and Aiden. I know it was dragged out, but know I did that on purpose. But, I'm getting back in the groove, and I hope you will enjoy. Oh, and that song in the media is one of my favourites at the moment.

And if you haven't already noticed, I have taken away the cast because I feel like adding a cast kind of forces the audience to imagine the characters a certain way. I strongly believe that you should make up what the characters look like for yourself. But, I am leaving the pictures in the media because I'm too lazy to go through and delete them all.

Chapter Thirteen

Ashton's words still echoed through my mind even interrupted my vain attempts at sleep. He was eerily calm in that interrogation room, despite all the chaos going on outside. "How do you know you can trust them?" He had asked. "How do you know that Kadmos is the good guy here?" That was the thing... I didn't. I just assumed that because he was my father, he was automatically the good guy. "Why else do you think he suddenly showed interest in you after all these years?"

To that, I didn't have an answer.

"But, Aiden-" I tried to defend, to which Ashton only barked out a laugh.

"Oh, you poor soul," he had leaned across the table at that point, and I could still remember how his eyes kept lingering on my lips. "You think he actually likes you? He's just putting up with you for the sake of obtaining the Heart. But, if you were to come with me..." He never did finish his sentence. The door had burst open and Ashton had me by the shirt, smashing his lips against mine. My skin still crawled at the memory. I had kissed a fair amount of people, and even though it wasn't anything spectacular, just a press of our lips, it still felt revolting. And Aiden saw that whole thing.

"You don't need to explain anything to me. We're not like that, aren't we?"

I groaned and buried my face deep into my pillow. I let out a muffled scream. But, the thing was... he was right. We weren't like that. He was just protecting me, and sure, he was a fucking flirt at times, but that was about it. There was no promise there. Just harmless flirting.

Falling asleep that night was hard, but eventually, I was plunged into a restless slumber.

-

There was a meeting the next morning, and apparently, it was important. One of the staff members woke me up at early hours of the morning. At least, I guessed it was early hours. Ever since I got to this headquarters, my sense of time had been thrown completely off track. There wasn't any windows or anything to even hint at the time of day. The only thing I had to go on was the small clock on my bedside table.

I hurriedly dressed but paused just as I was about to open the door. Was Aiden going to be there? How was I supposed to react? I hated that part of me that was looking forward to seeing Aiden, and at the same time, I was so unsure of how he was going to act.

Sighing, I pushed all thoughts regarding him to the back of my mind. I needed to concentrate because the interview the day before was nothing but a complete fail. I still had my mother to find.

As I carefully opened the glass door, I was shocked to see that there weren't as many people as I as thought there would be. Evrain was there, and it was still a shock to see his stark white hair and vibrant blue eyes, but it was evident that he was getting used to it. The odd thing was that it seemed that he suited his white hair much better than his original dark brown -almost black- color. He offered me a small smile as I walked slowly into the room.
