Chapter Eighty One

AN: MY FEELS ON THIS.. CHAPTER I JUST.. -SOBS-

Amber's POV

I sighed in relief as I finally got Rydel to calm down and go back to sleep after giving her her bottle. I kissed her forehead one last time as I gently place her in her bed in the nursery.

I smiled as I turned off the lights and turned on her nightlight as I started to walk back to my room. As I started to reach for the door handle, the house phone was ringing in the living room downstairs. It was eleven thirty pm why would someone be calling me at this hour?

"Hello? Carter Residence." I say into the receiver as the person on the other side of the line sniffled as if he or she were crying.

"Amber?" A male voice said. I furrowed my eyebrows keeping quiet as I wondered who the other person was. "It's Jack." He said again, as I held the reciever tight against my ear.

"Jack? What's wrong?" I asked again as he sighed and huffed again.

"Your mom, she's in the hospital." He said. My breathing caught in my throat. My moms in the hospital. Why is she in the hospital?

"Why. W-what. Jack why is my mom in the hospital??" I asked getting nervous all of a sudden. Mom had to be fine. She just had to be.

"She woke me... she woke me up an hour ago and.... Amber please come to the hospital." Jack pleaded. My thoughts were racing with possiblities. Nervous of what happened to my mother.

"Okay." With that I hung up and raced upstairs. Putting on a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt quietly walking over to Ethan's room.

"Honey?" I walked over to his bed gently shaking him. "Sweetheart we have to go to the hospital." I shook him again. Succesfully he sat up and nodded putting his shoes on no questions asked.

I walked to the nursery fixing Rydel's bag and picking her up gently as I grabbed Ethan's hand walking out to the car. Buckling both of them in their car seat I walked to the driver's seat and started the engine.

Please be okay mom.

I drove to the hospital not knowing what happened.

I parked in the lot taking Rydel in her car seat and Ethan walking inside. "Where's Cara Carter?" I asked the receptionist.

"Amber!" Jack called over to me as he ran over hugging me tight crying on my shoulder. I rubbed circles in his back as he sobbed. He pulled away guiding me to the waiting room.

"Jack. What happened?" I asked him as he carried a sleeping Ethan.

"Your mom. Woke up screaming clutching her head and asked me to take her to the hospital. I- I don't know what's wrong." Jack said starting to sob again.

I didn't say anything. Because I'm afraid I might cry. Mom had to be fine.

I took out my phone and called Michael. He's the only person I want to talk to.

"Hello? Amber? What's wrong?" Mikey asked his voice still groggy and raspy.

"Mikey we're in the hospital." I said sniffling again trying not to cry.

"Baby what's wrong?" He asked sudden movements being heard. He must've sat up.

"Mom's in the hospital. I don't know what's wrong. Mikey I'm scared." I said sobbing again.

"Baby calm down. I need you to calm down baby. Okay.. Inhale.. Exhale.." He said. I did as told and breathed slower and calmer as I bit my lip trying to stop myself from crying again.

"Listen to me love, Cara will be fine. She's a strong woman--"

"Who are with Mrs. Carter?" The doctor said. We stood up as he looked at us with a pained look on his face.
