AoT SnK: (Jean x OC) Something worth fighting for

Chapter Four

                I woke up to everyone in the girls cabin rushing about. Shit! i slept in late!! I jumped out of bed and rushed to put on my uniform. I was running around looking for my jacket, the hair on my arms stood up. Curse my decision to wear tank tops. After mentally slapping my self i find my jacket on the floor next to my bunk. My eyes locked with my bunk mates. Ivy was her name, Tall Maroon hair and black eyes. Ivy was very confident and talkative too. We had an hour long discussion about the three branches, but the thing is, i only asked her if she needed a bunk mate.

                Ivy grinned at me as she put on her harness. Though Ivy was talkative she was also a good friend. Talking to her made me feel comfortable, like when im with Gem. I quickly pull my hair into a tight ponytail and straightened my jacket. Ivy and I rushed outside to join everyone else. We stood side by side, looking straight forward till the chief instructor had walked onto the stage. After giving us instructions we went to an open area with pillars that had wires connected to them. I could tell after analyzing them that we were suppossed to balance.

                Ivy and I had gone at the same time, Ivy struggled but soon found her balance and hung there with a big smile. I studied her position as they lifted me in the air, I took a deep breath and calmed my breathing. Relax, if you think to much you'll fall. I focused my weight into my hips, holding my arms out i found my balance and didnt move an inch. I couldnt help but grin as the cheif instructor nodded in approvement in my direction. Yes! I mentally patted my back and was lowered to the ground. Jean smirked as he went up there. "Hah, this is going to be easy." I grinned as Jean was lifted and shake or move every few seconds. 

                Jean was lowered and as he walked past me I whispered "Was it as easy as you thought? you were practically shivering" Jean merely smirked and looked away. We always joked around like that, and I was happy  that training didnt change it. As i thought about the times Jean and  I shared I notice my face heat up and my heart beat quicken. Do i have a fever? i thought. I slipped back into reality when everyone was snickering. I look to see what they were laughing at. Eren was upside down in horror.

                I look at his horrified expression, i turned away quickly. How humiliating...Poor Eren...After everyone was done i returned to the girls cabin, leaning on the rail. I notice two figures approach the cabin. Focusing more i could see it was Armin and Eren. They walk up to me, Eren's eyes practically pleading. "H-hey Kat" Armin waved, his face dusted with a shade of pink. I smiled back at him. "Hey Armin!" Armin and I would often read books together, whether it was studying or just enjoying a well written book. 

                My eyes turned to Eren as he spoke up. "Kat, Please help me out!" he shouted. I already knew what he wanted help with. Eren was more than capable to become a Survey Corps. member.  The thought of him leaving made me a little sad, Eren works so hard, he can't just leave now. If i could help him achieve his goal then thats enough for me. I felt Mikasa walk out and stand next to Eren. "Okay" i smiled. " I'll help"

                We walked back to the pillars and hooked Eren up. Mikasa and I gave him some final advice. "Focus your weight into your hips" Mikasa said. I nodded in agreement. " Make sure to calmo yourself. If you get to excited you lose focus and hurt yourself." I continued. "I know you can do it Eren" i smiled. Eren nodded and told armin to lift him up. Eren was walanced at first but he quickly fell forwards. It was almost slow motion as his head hit the ground with a loud thump knocking him out. Armin and Mikasa quickly ran him to the nurse as i went to the mess hall.

                Eren sat a few tables away from us with a bandage on his head. I glance at Jean out of the corner of my eye and notice him staring at Mikasa, his face a light shade of pink. Watching him watch Mikasa made my blood boil, I quickly finished my food and kept my head down as i walked away. "You okay Kat?" marco called out. I simply nodded and walked out of the mess hall. I walked out of the mess hall and sat down in the grass, hugging my knees.

                Armin came up beside me and sat down. "H-Hey Kat.." he said. "hey Armin, why are you out here?" he laughed and looked up at the sky. "i could ask you the same thing" he murmured. I smiled a little as i look up at the stars. We sat there for a while till Armin got up. "Well, I-I better get back to Eren" he stuttered. I nodded and waved as he ran off. My eyes wandered back to the stars. Gem..do you see the stars im looking at? I thought. Soon you'll be where I am at.. As my eyelids were about to fall i hear footsteps behind me and Jean walked up.

                Jean just stood beside me for a minute, silent. "Hey" i mumbled. "It's getting late dont you think you should go inside?" he lectured. "Sorry i just couldnt take anymore of your swooning over mikasa" i scoffed. Jean's face lit up and he faced me shocked. "H-how do y-you know?!" he asked. I shrugged then put a fake smile on my face. "It's pretty obvious, but im happy for you" i lied. Jean quickly regained his composure and  turned to face the cabins. "Whatever, llets just go.." he said before holding his hand out to me. "need help up?" i smiled and grabbed his hand. 

                I was pulled off the ground, my hand still in Jean's. My heart beat quickened and i stared at our hands for a minute. he's still holding it i thought. I blushed madly as I lowered my head and mumbled " thanks.." Jean seemed to snap back into reality because he quickly released my hand and turned around. I found my self a little dissappointed when he let go but quickly pushed the thought away.

                We said our goodbyes and headed back to our cabins. When i walked into the girl's cabin, Ivy was sitting on her bed waiting for me. "where were you this fine evening?" she laughed. I blushed and climbed to my top bunk, ignoring her teasing, I fell asleep dreaming about Jean. Mama...Papa...whats wrong with me?
