AoT SnK: (Jean x OC) Something worth fighting for

Chapter Sixteen

                I stood behind Jean as we brought our gear to be inspected. Evidently someone had killed the two titans that were captured for research. I sighed as i was waiting to give my report on my equipment. I noticed Jean's hand clench and felt sorry for him. Today was the day we choose which branch we go into. My choice seemed obvious but i thought of the possibilities of me joining the Military Police or the Garrisson. I could stay safe in the interior, or maybe even protect the citizens in wall maria. Though i thought of the possibilities, i knew my decision was clear. 

                I stayed silent as  Annie, Connie, and Armin were talking about what branch they were joining. I sighed and gave my report to the Garrisson member and walked away. Tonight is the night, my fate will be decided in this decision, there won't be any going back. Did Papa feel like this when he chose his branch? I wonder how he handled it. I looked up at the blue sky, thinking how my family would react to my decision, if they were alive. I'm now the last of the Teslow family...and the line could die with me...and i just wished to have one more day with my family, but the titans took that from me. Now i will make them pay.

                                *Rose's POV*

                There were just hours before I chose which branch i wanted to join. I knew i wanted to avenge my father but after what happened in Trost i had my doubts. I walked around the market in wall Rose, looking at the food carts with hunger. I couldnt afford anything but i was peaceful to walk through the streets, the people of Wall Rose chatting away after our new victory. I put my hands in my pockets as i continued to my stroll. A voice behind me caught my attention. 

                "Rose?" the voice called out. I turned around to see a familiar little girl who i spent my childhood hating. Chrys, my little sister smirked as she assured herself it was me. "Wow, Big Sis grew up and ran away to join the sodiers. How..fitting." Chrys sneered. I clenched my fist and remained expressionless. Watch it Chrys one more word and  i'll snap..Chrys had walked up to me and whispered in my ear "Have you finally realized that Mom, Dad, and Jonathon's deaths were all your fault?"

                I pushed Chrys away then grabbed the collar of her shirt. "You spoiled brat!" I spat. "I have nothing to do with their deaths! And you know it!" i hissed. Chrys just smiled, she knew she pushed me over the edge and she enjoyed it. "That may be true, but you ran away like a coward and left your sweet sister behind." she whimpered. "Oh please, we both know you got adopted by the first rich family you saw." It was Chrys's turn to look angry. "Atleast i'm living a comfortable life, instead of throwing it away like you!" she shouted. 

                I threw Chrys back to the ground and turned away, everyone was looking at us. "I joined the soldiers to avenge our father, and now after what happened in the Trost district, I'm fighting to rid the world of titans. You may be living a comfortable life style but I'm living an honorable one. Can you say the same Chrys?" I said then walked away. As far as i was concerned, Chrys wasn't a part of my family, she abandoned the family when she got adopted. I walked till i reached HQ and found Kat looking up at the now orange sky. She must be thinking about tonight. I thought. I looked up also, thinking about my decision. I know what i must do now.

                                *Kat's POV* 

                The time had come, everyone stood infront of the stage, looking at commander Erwin. We all stood at attention, listening to Erwin's speech. After he had finished he said "all those not interested in joining the scout regiment please leave now." More than half the soldiers had turned around and started walking away. I saw Rose, Jean, Sasha,Connie, Bernard, Reiner,Mikasa, Armin, Krista, and Ymir stay put. Now is my chance, i don't have to do this..I thought. No, I can't quit now, not when im so close! I forced my eyes up to look at Commander Erwin. Papa! Mama! Gem! I will avenge your deaths, starting tonight!

                The next day we went to the scout regiment camp and met our leader Ness, then spent our days training and memorizing the strategy to take back wall Maria. time flew by till it was finally the day before we left for the 57th expedition. Eren ran up to all of us, Mikasa and Armin obviously relieved. I walked up with Jean when Eren had asked about Marco. I looked down at the ground as Jean explained Marco's death. Eren looked horrified, knowing that Marco had died while he was away. Ness called out "New recruits! Your uniforms have arrived!"

                Everyone put on their wings of freedom cloak, standing at attention. Some part of me could imagine Marco standing there with us. I sighed inwardly as we were dismissed. That night Jean had confronted Eren about what had happened at Trost. "You attacked Mikasa back then.." he said. I watched as Jean continued bringing up what happened. I had no intention to stop him, because i knew what he was getting at. "Eren, we are really counting on you." Jean finished. I smiled as Eren looked at Jean in shock. See Jean isn't so bad...once you get to know him.
