AoT SnK: (Jean x OC) Something worth fighting for

Chapter Thirteen

                I sat on the bench across from Jean, the last few hours replaying in my mind. Eren, Mikasa, and Armin were dealing with the  Garrisson troops while the rest of the soldiers had taken refuge in the interrior of wall Rose. Everyone ranged from horrified, shocked, angry, or depressed. Jean had been drinking his water, probably processing what happened. I stood up and placed my hand on his shoulder. "Jean?" i asked, he had turned to look at me with empty eyes. "A-are you okay?" i stuttered. Jean nodded and drank more water. I sighed and put my head in my hands.

                I kept thinking about the moment i shared with my parents and Gem. I absent mindedly clutched the wings of freedom necklace, seeking comfort. Gem's death had crushed me, but seeing all of them together in that meadow had shattered my heart. I thought i would have broken down again but...I looked at Jean's gloomy expression. Jean picked up those shattered pieces for me..

                Marco was holding back a frantic soldier in the corner of my eye, Annie was talking to the tall blonde guy who was in the 104th trainee squad. What was his name? Bernard? i sighed and looked up at the sky. They all worked so hard today, but what i dont get is why....why did the collassal titan return? 

                I slowly rested my eyes to catch up on whatever rest i could get because i had a feeling it was going to be a long night. In my dream i went back to the meadow, somehow hoping my family would show up and comfort me. I looked around but no one was in sight. I layed down in the grass, feeling a breeze run over me. The sky was clear and the sun bright against my eyelids. I felt calm but a little sad that my family really was gone. I heard a small giggle and sat up quickly. Gem sat directly behind me making a white flower crown.

                "I would have come sooner but Mama and Papa said i should leave you be, let you do your job." she pouted. "but I think you need some company.."she whispered sadly at the white flower crown. "It may be selfish but i wanted to see you again..." i whispered. "I can't visit after this" Gem murmured. I nodded. I had to understand that once your dead you need to let go. The thought of not seeing gem anymore hurt but i knew i have to let her pass and do the only thing i can do for her. Kill the titans..

                "Here" Gem smiled as she put the flower crown ontop of my head. I smiled as Gem clapped her hands. "Its beautiful.." i whispered. "Just like what we made mom that day." Gem looked down at her hands, smiling sadly. "Gem.." i called out as Gem began to fade again. "what is it sis?" she said. I put on my best smile and said. "Make sure to watch when I kill the last of the titans and venture beyond these old walls." Gem laughed and hugged me. "Stay safe Kat" I felt her dissappear and i was in the meadow alone once again.

                I woke up to Jean shaking my shoulders gently. "Kat? Kat." he murmured. I looked up at him through tired eyes. "yoou were crying, i uhm, i was worried." he stuttered. I smiled and wiped away the tears that stained my cheeks. "I'm okay" i said. Jean looked down at me not believing it for a second. "I really am Jean. Please don't worry about it." I insisted. Jean had put if hand over mine and squeezed lightly. "Okay..I believe you but..If you want to talk just come to me..." he looked away embarrassed as I smiled up at him. 

                "A-Anyway..Everyone is going to see what the deal with Eren is..want to go?" Jean asked, unsure if it would be safe to spy on Eren and the Garrisson. Finally some adventure! I grinned and nodded my head. I stood up and got my gear ready. "Lets go!" I said. Jean nodded and left first, i followed closely behind.  I was curious about what was going to happen to Eren, and Rose was too because she had already gone with Annie and ' Bernard'. Rose may be calm and collected but she is loyal i thought. 

                We were ontop of a roof a bit away from the Garrisson members. When i landed  on the roof i saw Armin stand infront of a cloud of smoke and steam. Armin was trying to convince the commander that Eren was usefull. I looked at Armin in awe when he had saluted and insisted his point of view. "So cool!" i whispered. Jean had dropped his hand on top of my head and whispered "d-dont be falling in love with Armin now.." I turned to look at him with a grin "aww are you jealous?" i teased

                Jean looked away, clearly embarrassed. "Oi, lovebirds, shut up or we will get caught!" 'Bernard hissed. I turned towards him and hissed back "Oh shut it 'Bernard' " he looked at me with clear annoyance. "the name is Bertholdt!" he whispered. Rose slapped him in the back of the head. "Just shut it Bernard!" Rose whispered. We all continued watching as Armin talked to Commander Pixis. Soon Pixis walked off to have a private conversation with Eren, Mikasa, and Armin. 

                I sighed and sat next to Jean. "Wonder whats going on up there.." i thought aloud. Annie and Bertholdt remained silent, Rose shrugged, and Jean was deep in thought. I look towards the wall where the Pixis, Eren and the others sat. Why do i have a feeling that we are going to battle again? I waved the thought away and held onto the wings of freedom necklace that was once Papa's. Please watch over me...Mama, Papa, Gem...
