AoT SnK: (Jean x OC) Something worth fighting for

                The sunset illuminated the wall as Jean, Armin, Mikasa, and I stood in Eren's room. I leaned my head against Jean's shoulder, exhausted. No one came out of the battle with Annie without some sort of injury, and the battle almost seemed for not, now that we can't get any information out of Annie. Rose had accompanied Levi back to base, leaving just the few cadets including myself, here with Eren at HQ. Eren began to stir in his bed before waking up. "Eren!" i whispered. Mikasa sat down next to Eren, holding onto his hand.

                Jean and Armin stood behind Mikasa as i stayed against the wall. I stayed silent as they conversed until someone knocked on the door. "Armin Arlert, Jean Kirschtein, Kat Teslow, please report for debriefing." they announced. I got up from the wall and smiled at Eren. "Try to stay out of trouble Yeager!" i laughed before exiting the room with Armin and Jean. I interlaced my fingers with Jean as we walked. Armin and Jean had been conversing but my mind was elswhere. My thoughts continued to remind me of the past, and everything that has led up to this point. 

                It was like my life was flashing before my eyes, but i knew i wasnt dead. All my memories flooded my brain, almost like a movie. 

                It started with the memory of my father, leaving the house for the last time, leaving behind his wife and kids. The green cape with the wings of freedom that rested on his back was the last thing i saw as he walked off, not knowing that was the last time he would return to his family breathing. Papa, you were my insperation to join the scout regiment...and now you fuel my determination to avenge the family i no longer have..

                The memories soared by till they slowed at the moment my mother held my hand and carried Gem, all of us running from the titan that had spotted us. Mama's light brown hair and blue eyes identical to my own, i never thought i would miss her so much..I can still recall the brave smile she gave to her sobbing daughters as they watched her being swallowed by the titan. The promise i made to my mother that day echoes as the images fly by. Mama, what you did that day gave me the courage to face each uncertain day...and your compassion will nuture my aching heart.

                Memories of my life in trost displayed in my head, every good and bad day i spent with Gem, then lead to my memories of the years i spent training. The faces of my comrads were led by the days spent in the cafeteria. Everyone was so happy....Titans soon brought along the images of the attack at trost. The one memory i knew was coming was the small frail DEAD body of my beloved sister Gem Teslow.  Gem's final wish, i could hear it in my head, along with her unsteady breathing and the obvious struggle to stay concious, just a little longer.. "Smile for me, for all the time i know i can't.." Gem had brought light to my world, and even after her death, she shined a light down on me...reminding me to be brave and smile...

            The events since then did a play by play, slowing down at the time Jean had confessed, then stopping at the events with the female titan.     Emotions overfilled my heart like it was a bucket. The happiness and sadness were mixed toether i couldn't decipher how i felt. One thing was for sure though....

                "Kat?" Jean asked looking at me curiously. "Are you okay? you're crying again.." he said as he brought his hand to my cheek and wiped away my tears. I smiled back at him, it was a genuine smile, and it was well needed. Jean blushed and looked away for a minute. "wh-what's with you?" he stuttered. "I was just thinking..how all of my life, everything that has led up to now...It gives me a new found courage, and new will to fight.." I murmured. I stumbled back when Jean flicked my forehead lightly. "Don't be so serious Kat" he grinned. 

                Armin and Jean laughed as we continued walking to the conference room. My need to avenge hasn't become so dire anymore instead...My will to fight is to preserve the future of the citizens around me. I won't let anyone live in sorrow again. For now..Mama, Papa, Gem, Just wait, I'm going to achieve greatness..
