AoT SnK: (Jean x OC) Something worth fighting for

Chapter Nine

                The next morning i hurried  to get ready and ran out the cabin doors still putting  my shoes on. I fumbled with my laces as i jump over the rail.  I saw Jean and Marco walking and talking towards the  mess hall. I ran as fast as i could to catch up. "Jean!" i shouted as i grabbed his sleeve. Jean turned to look at me with shock, Oh god what do i say? "C-can i talk to you?" i murmured looking towards the side. "huh? y-yeah sure whatever" Jean stuttered. We walked walked to the side of the mess hall. 

                "what is it Kat?" Jean asked concerned. I held my father's necklace with my left hand while my right hung limp against my side. "I-I uhm..." I struggled for words. "We can just talk l-later.." jean said about to walk away. "No!" i shouted. Jean turned around shocked. "Jean, I wanted to apologize about yesterday...I was acting childish and i apologize." i put a fake smile on my face and looked into his eyes. Jean looked at my face for a minute before looking away. "Yeah yeah don't worry about it." he murmured. 

                I was relieved that Jean wasn't upset, as my smile began to become genuine Jean held out his hand. "C'mon, lets go eat." he smirked. I nodded and took his hand till we went into the mess hall. Everyone was eating like normal, i took my normal seat across from Jean and Marco. Everyone was excited to graduate tonight, Marco and Jean talked about working for the king. My thoughts drifted else where as i thought about venturing beyond the walls. Papa...Can you see me now? I was so close to avenging my parents and one step closer to helping humanity.

                The day went by quickly since my thoughts were beyond the walls and out to the bodies of water Armin called "seas" Finally night arrived and the soldiers stood at attention as the instructors named off the three branches we could join. The Garrison, The Survey Corps, and the Military Police. "Only the cadets with the top ten scores can join the military police." they said. I knew about the top ten scores but there was twelve of us in front. I had tied for third with Annie, while Rose tied for fifth with Eren. I kept a straight face but inside i was smiling with satisfaction. I made it to the top ten, but it doesnt matter. I don't want to join the military police, i have no desire to protect the king that had made life in Trost misserable.

                After being dismissed everyone went to the mess hall to celebrate the three hard years of training. Eren was talking to a group of people about joining the Survey Corps, when Thomas caught everyone's atttention. "We can't beat them!" I sighed and glanced at Jean who had a angry look in his eye. He must think Eren is crazy....Jean then glanced back at me, anger and concern in his eyes. Jean knows i won't change my mind now...I was the first to turn away and look back at Eren who gave his speech. Eren walked out of the mess hall, with Mikasa and Armin following behind him. Jean watched Eren leave, probably thinking about how he won't change his mind. Your so stubborn. I thought. 

                I finished my meal and said goodnight to Jean and Marco before leaving for the cabin. Rose waited on the bottom bunk with a rare grin spread across her face. "We did it Kat, we finally get to join the survey Corps." she smiled. I climbed to my bunk and laughed. "Its almost like a dream.." i whispered. I heard Rose get comfortable and fall asleep on the bottom bunk. I sighed and stared at the ceiling. Gem...are you proud of your big sister? Mama, Papa, I'll carry on your legacy, and the hope you wished to bring back to humanity... 

                My eyelids felt heavy and soon closed, sending me to a deep sleep. I sat in a meadow of flowers with Gem who was 8. I knew this was a dream but i didnt fight it. Mama and Papa stood infront of  us, holding hands. "Mama, Papa, look at big sister!" Gem called. They turned to me with loving eyes. "we're so happy for you Kat, we knew you could do it." Papa said. Mama sat with a gentle smile. "thanks..." i whispered. I knew they were dead, everyone except Gem..Mama and Papa began to fade. "Gem remember your promise.." they whispered. Gem put her small arms around my neck sobbing. "Big sister where are Mama and Papa?" she cried. "their gone Gem.." i replied. Their Gone...

                The next day after i woke up i went out to the streets with Eren, Armin, Mikasa, and Rose to watch the Survey Corps leave for another expedition. afterwards we went to the wall to help with the wall in the Trost district.  Everyone was chatting about joining the Survey Corps, when Sasha showed us the meat she got from the captains cupboard. "Sasha!" i breathed. "Your going to get in trouble!" Connie whispered. Sasha merely waved our comments off then continued about how once we reclaim wall Maria we will have tons of meat again. I smiled and said "Then count me in, i haven't had meat for a while". The others joined in and we went about our buisness on the Wall.

                Eren was looking out towards the city when i heard a loud crack and saw a thunderbolt shoot down. My eyes widened, I saw this before, at wall Shiganshina. A large head that belonged to none other than the collassal titan appeared slowly behind Eren. Everyone stood frozen, Time was repeating itself again. Eren shouted a few words i couldnt hear, but we were all pushed off the wall. Falling..I was Falling..No! I shoot out my cables to the wall and skidded against the wall. Sasha ran past me to rescue another soldier, i wanted to help but my body froze. The Collassal titan had kicked a hole in the wall. 

                Mama! Papa! its happening again! Eren quickly scaled the wall till he was at the top. I followed close behind him but didnt make it to the top till Eren had already come out of a cloud of..steam? Everyone was now on top of the wall when a member of the Garrisson came up. "Hurry up to the head quarters!" he shouted. I nodded and was the first to take off. Jean passed through my mind, Jean please be safe...I rushed to HQ and found Jean getting ready. "Jean!" i shouted. Jean turned towards me but his face clearly in shock. Of course Jean is just as frightened that the collassal titan is back. 

                I ran to him quickly, and he grabbed the side of my arms gently. "Kat!" he sighed relieved. "Are you okay?" i nodded. "Im fine, are you?" i asked. Jean nodded back and let go of my arms. "Lets get ready, quickly." he said and walked off. I sighed and found Rose, usually so calm and collected, now frightened after seeing the collassal titan. "W-was that what attacked your town?" she asked. I nodded grimly. I'm not going to sit by and watch others die today...This time i'll give my life to humanity! Mama, Papa, watch over me..
