there were no goodbyes
nor smiles as they turned away

just a wisp of chatter as
their voices fade away

into dust, it seemed,
had it been crushed into

long gone was Friendship
at least, not for a while,

ten more minutes of torture
alone in a silent dance

as terms like 'spin' and 'pirouette'
reoccupy my head in an attempt

to stop me from remembering
the events of that very day.

dancing takes away all pain.
