"Who are you?"

A catlike smile. "No one of importance. But my, you are the most beautiful Winged I have ever seen."

It wasn't until the full moon appeared among the twinkling stars that the performances began. Apparently, the heirs perform a talent of their choice to showcase their power and ability to rule. Something I did not understand whatsoever.

We were all gathered beneath the blanket of stars, surrounded by the light posts on either side. An elevated stage was settled a few feet above us. The Majesties were seated on my right while me and the rest of the people stood on both sides of the stage. Princess Cora and Prince Killian were up first. They held their heads high, both looking regal underneath the moonlight.

Several tubs of different colored powder were set up on the stage. I tilted my head in confusion as they separated and stood on both ends of the row of tubs. Turning towards the girl beside me, I asked, "What are they doing?"

She looked at me in disbelief. "You're one of the ones from the human world weren't you?" I blinked at her in surprise. Her expression held curiosity not the judgemental look I've seen some others had. I nodded.

She smiled. "Well, every year Princess Cora and Prince Killian perform magic together." I didn't miss the small sigh that escaped her as she said the Prince's name. I held back a chuckle and nodded. "Their performances are awesome and gets better and better each year! Last year they had taken a volunteer and made him disappear."

I looked at her in disbelief. "You're kidding."

She shook her head, "I'm dead serious. He was missing for a whole day before he was seen again."

"That just sounded like a murder attempt or something," I muttered, turning back towards the stage. The girl let out a loud boisterous laugh.

We fell into a hush as drums sounded nearby but however hard I tried to look, they weren't there at all. Chills crawled up my arms as the four moon lights on top of the posts dimmed. I could feel the anticipation of the crowd, the slight shift of their feet and the excited whispers carried their way towards me. I could feel my own excitement as I jumped up and down excitedly in my spot.

Suddenly, a loud boom came from the stage and a shower of glowing sand flew into the air. They moved and revolved in a tunnel of blue and green, shifting into orange and red. They writhed in the air, twirling and intertwining together in a series of knots and shapes.

The scattered tiny specks suddenly shot towards the center, melding and fusing to form two familiar shapes. I gasped along with the crowd as the powder solidified, their colors fading to reveal the Prince and Princess. We watched, transfixed, on their wings. Instead of solidifying like the rest of their body, the multi colored specks formed almost translucent wings behind them.
