Determination is a powerful weapon

I spent the next few days happily hanging around in the kitchen. Just kidding. I was moping from what Cora says.

She had asked me if I wanted to tell the King and Queen what happened to me and I had replied with a 'later'. After I told my parents. It was still hard to believe that my parents were royalty.

"Lady Amara, you don't have anything to do today?" One of the cooks asked as he placed a tray of warm cookies on the counter. I eyed them.

"Nope. Cora is doing her princess duties and Ellisar is doing... I don't even know what he's doing."

The cook shook his head with a smile. "Young ones these days."

After bidding him a good day, I flew lazily down the halls, stopping when I saw Esta peering into a hole in the hall. Dropping down beside her, I got down next to her. "What are you doing girl?"

She let out a chirp, ears flicking forward. Her entire body was still, eyes staring straight ahead. Well then.

I gave her a small pat on the back. "I'll leave you to it." Getting up, I decided to walk instead. It's so boring. Where on Lunaravia is everyone? Tilting my head up towards the ceiling, I made a funny face, chuckling.

Suddenly, loud wing beats sounded in front of me. Not a second later, four guards flew down the hall at lightning speed, armed with various weapons. I was about to ask what's wrong when Ellisar appeared around the corner.

Spying me, he rushed forward. "The rebels are here. Get your weapons and meet me at the front lawn. You will see everyone there."

I grabbed his arm before he could leave. "How far are they?"

His usual calm face was etched with a hint of panic. "Too close."

Dread filled me. There was a foreboding feeling in my stomach and I prayed that everything will be alright. Please let Killian be alright.

Flying into the huge weapon storage room, I sighed in relief when I saw a set of women's leather battle gear in the rack. Quickly changing out of my attire, I slipped two daggers into my boots. Grabbing two swords, I tested their weight and deeming them satisfactory, slid them into the sheaths. I grabbed whatever small weapons I could find and attached them to my waist.

It wasn't hard to spot the fighters. They all stood in formation, hands on the swords and stances tense. Landing down next to Ellisar and Cora, the thought of going into a full battle was hard to register.

Everyone was silent. But I could practically taste the anxiety in the air. My skin prickled as I spotted dark spots appearing on the horizon.

Cora unsheathed her sword and turned to me. "We don't know how many are there but stay safe." It wasn't just meant for me. It was for all of us.
