"What did you just say?" Newt said sharply, staring at Minho.

Minho's face went slack with confusion. "I-I don't know. I think I said..."

"You said my name." Riley cut him off.

"Did you?" Newt asked.

"Yeah. I said.. Riley."

"How did you know that? You've been out in the Maze.." Newt said slowly, suspiciously. Minho shrugged.

"I don't know. I did come back a while back 'cause I dropped my pack out there, must've heard it then." He dismissed. Riley had a feeling it was more than that, but didn't argue.

Before Newt could say anymore, the doors began to move. Move. It had seemed impossible, but now it was being proved possible. It made a groaning, grinding sound of stone against stone, as they began to inch forward. None of the other Gladers even looked up, as if this happened on a daily basis,

It does happen on a daily basis, Riley thought.

She stood, staring, as the walls moved. Newt and Minho watched her with a look of what can only be described as amusement.

"Woah." Was all she could muster. And then something hit her. The doors were closing. Sealing them in, maybe sealing them out. Either way, the thought still made Riley want to throw up.

"You'll get used to it, shuck face. See ya around." Minho smirked. He turned on his heel and walked away.

Riley watched him with a heavy heart as he went. She felt something about the guy. Not in a relationship kind of way, but something completely different, something indescribable. A frown tugged at her lips, the gears in her head turning as he was lost from sight. She sighed, and glanced at Newt.

For some reason, he was looking at her with an expression similar to the one she had been watching Minho with. His arms were folded across his chest, a look of curiosity in his eyes. He adverted his gaze as Riley turned.

"C'mon, Greenie. Let's find you some place to sleep for the night."

Ten minutes later, Riley sat on her bunk in the 'homestead' as Newt had called it, staring listlessly into space.

"You okay?" A concerned voiced asked. Riley looked up. Newt.

"No." Riley answered back, returning her gaze to empty space. She lay down on the bed, arms folded beneath her head, glaring at the ceiling.

"Fair enough." Newt said, coming over to sit on the wooden chair placed at her bedside. "Can I get you anything?"

"I'm good, thanks."

"What's on your mind, Greenie? You seem a million miles away."

"I wish." Riley snorted. Anywhere other than there would've be great. Newt rolled his eyes. "Quite a lot, in answer to your question. It's all a bit much to take in, y'know?"

"Yeah, I know the feeling."

They sat in companionable silence for a good five minutes, each of them in a world of their own, until Newt finally stood.

"Well, see ya tomorrow, Riley." He said, making his way to the door.

"See you." Riley said. She flopped back on her bed when he left, allowing darkness to take over her dreary consciousness.

That night, she dreamed.

A man in a trim white suit was in front of her, arms folded, looking seriously fed up. In one hand, he held an injection needle filled with a mysterious clear liquid. Two buff guys in black flanked him, guns aimed at Riley. And they looked like they wouldn't hesitate to shoot.
