"Thomas." Riley hissed, her voice low and urgent. The boy stirred and rolled over, his back to her. "Thomas!"
Minho sighed, and leaned forward, dragging his wrench he had 'borrowed' from the builders across the bars, creating an awful, loud clattering. Thomas jumped up so quickly he hit his head on the ceiling.
"What?" Panic was clear in his tone as he scanned the immediate area. "What's going on?" His eyes landed on Riley and Minho.
Riley raised her eyebrows at Minho. "He really is unobservant, isn't he?"
Thomas rubbed his eyes. "What? What's happening? Have I missed something."
Minho raised his eyebrows right back at her. "He really is."
Thomas blinked. "Seriously, what have I missed?"
Riley groaned. "That just washed away all my respect you gained from surviving the maze."
"Huh?"
"The sky, dummy. The sky's gone."
Thomas frowned. He looked upwards. The sun and the sky altogether had disappeared, leaving just grey- like a roof. "Oh. Oh, that's not good."
"Nice observations, shank." Minho snickered. His face suddenly turned serious. "And we didn't get our weekly supplies. Something serious is going on here. Now, up and out. We got a long day ahead of us."
"Wait, what d'you mean?"
"We've called a gathering. You, my friend, are invited, after what you did last night. You too, Riley."
Riley blinked. "Me?"
"Yeah, you. Uh, don't take this the wrong way, but some of the council members are convinced you've played some part in this whole thing. No names mentioned."
"Gally?"
"Yeah."
Riley groaned. "Great. Just great. But I swear, if anyone tries to lock me up again, I'm out."
---
Mass panic had erupted within the Glade. Newt rushed around, trying to calm everybody as Alby was out of action.
"Hey, Chuck, go tell Winston about the gathering, will you? As soon as possible in the homestead, okay?" He called over his shoulder before he began talking rapid fire to Frypan.
Riley shuffled awkwardly, beginning to feel rather confused and left out. All the boys were rushing round, as if she no longer existed. She would've gone to her job- but in the midst of all the chaos that had been happening since she had arrived, she hadn't been assigned one. Instead she just stood there looking like a lost puppy, watching as Newt ran around in a desperate attempt to sort things out.
Jeff came sprinting up to them, heaving, out of breath. "G-girl." He stuttered. "Girl!"
Riley blinked. "Uh, excuse me?"
Jeff groaned. "No, not you. Girl. Coma. She escaped." He panted.
"Escaped? What'd you mean, 'she escaped'?"
"I mean, she ran off!" Jeff said, as if it were obvious.
"Where to?" Newt demanded, running a hand through his dirty blonde hair.
"We don't know!"
"I have an idea." Riley said, quietly. "The deadheads. That's where Thomas is. And she seemed to recognise him when she came up, or so I've heard." She shrugged.
"The deadheads it is!" Newt sighed, turning on his heel and sprinting off in the other direction, his limp more prominent than ever in her eyes, now she knew the story behind it.
She shook the thought out of her head, looked at Jeff, shrugging, and ran after Newt, Jeff only a few paces behind her.
The girl was sat in the deadheads beside Thomas, deep in discussion. Newt blinked at the scene, before calling out.
"Thomas?"
Thomas raised his head, nodding at the three of them, like everything was normal. "Hey, guys." He gave the girl a sideways look. "This is Teresa. Teresa, that's Newt, Riley, and Jeff."
"Hi." Riley said, swallowing her confusion and opting for a friendlier approach.
"How the shuck did you escape, anyway?" Newt asked, his guard lowering a little, his clenched muscles relaxing, probably sensing that Teresa posed no real threat to them. She just had the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. "Jeff said you just ran away."
Teresa raised her eyebrow, sending Jeff a sideways look. "I guess my little friend Jeff here forgot to mention the part where I kicked him in the balls and jumped out the window."
Riley snickered quietly. Newt snorted. "Really, Jeff? You got taken down by the shucking girl Greenie? Nice. Very manly."
Riley took a second to take in Teresa. She was pretty- wavy, raven-black hair, sharp blue eyes, pale, delicate features. Something was scrawled on her arm in pen, but Riley couldn't read it, as it was upside down to her.
"What's that on your arm?" She asked, tentatively.
Teresa glanced at it and shrugged. "I don't know. I remembered a few things when I woke up, but they're gone now. I guess I thought it was most important and wrote it down before I could loose it. It says, 'wicked is good'. Whatever that means."

omg short update I'm sorrryyyy. Serious thing first; I've noticed quite a few maze runner fanfictions with the same title, dialogue, and sometimes plot. Seriously, if you're someone who has been doing that, stop. I worked hard on this, you didn't.
Anyway, all seriousness aside, I'm rlly rlly sorry about the chapter bc its short and badly written oops. And the font at the end was bc I'm not on my laptop and I can't get slanted fonts on here lol.
And please enjoy the random picture of my hand and while reading the Kill Order again idek
