Riley opened her eyes. She was lying flat on the floor, Clint crouched over her. "Riley!" He yelped, helping her sit up.

Across the room, Newt was on the floor with Gally, both fighting like savages. Thomas desperately tugged on Newt's arm, and Minho was trying in vain to pull Gally away.

And then she faded back into subconsciousness.

--

Riley stirred into consciousness, her head throbbing, lying against cold, hard ground. She grabbed, reaching up and pressing her palm to her forehead.

"Riley!" A British accent called.

Riley turned on her side. Once more, she was in the slammer, Newt sitting cross-legged on the other side of the bars. She glared at him. "You."

Newt raised his eyebrows. "Yeah, me."

Huffing in exasperation, Riley turned her back to him. Newt sighed. "What now?"

"What now?" Riley repeated, glaring at the wall. "You shucking let those idiots lock me up, and you didn't even do a single thing about it."

"Riley, I-"

"I just want out now. Whatever it takes to get away from you judgemental, stupid, good for nothing, lying basta-"

"Okay, okay, I get it. But it was a majority vote- I couldn't prevent it. And if you think I didn't do anything, you should take a look at Gally when the medjacks are finished cleaning him up. The guy looks like a panda with those two black eyes."

Riley wasn't swayed. "Great. Good for you. Bye now."

"Jesus, Riley, you are one stubborn shank."

"At least I didn't lock up my so called friend in the slammer and leave her to rot." Riley called in a sing-song voice. Humour was always the best way to hide the pain.

"Hey, that's not true."

"Okay, cool. Don't let the door hit you on the way out."

"I'm on the other side of the door."

"I meant it metaphorically, stupid."

Newt smirked. "You're cute when you're all mad."

"I'm not cute!" She said, indignantly.

"Yeah you are."

"No I'm not!"

"You totally are."

"You're so aggravating!" Riley sighed.

"I know."

Riley's anger at the elder boy had now lessened a little. "So how badly did you shuck Gally up?"

Newt grinned. "Pretty badly. Let's just say you won't get much grief of him for a while."

"So I'm stuck in here?"

Newt was quiet for a moment. "I will get you out. Promise. I'll put it to the council, see if I can change their minds. I swear, I would let you out right now if I could. But I can't- that would be going against the majority of the council, and that would cause utter chaos."

"Okay, so you're just going to leave me alone here." Riley said, pouting.

"If you keep bloody complaining, maybe I just won't talk to the council at all!" Newt laughed.

Riley held her hands up in surrender. "Okay, okay. Sorry, jeez. Now go talk to your little council or whatever."

Newt rolled his eyes as he stood up. "Try not to get too bored."

"Thanks for the advice, shuck face."
