"You're getting married." Camila repeated after the initial shock had finally allowed her to speak again. Lauren nodded with a sad smile on her face, obviously expecting a different reaction from her friend.
Camila had pictured something completely different too. Lauren had come back to her life after more than a year of silence, and she thought this might've been her chance to win her back. But, she was sadly surprised when she found out the real reason for the older latina's reappearance.
"Lauren you're nineteen, you can't get married." Camila muttered shaking her head in disbelief.
"I'll turn twenty in two weeks, but age doesn't even matter Camz. I'm in love with him." Lauren explained holding the younger girl's hand over the table.
"Oh my God Lauren, are you pregnant? Is that what this is about?" Camila asked realizing maybe that was the reason behind Lauren's sudden commitment.
"No, I'm not pregnant." Lauren chuckled softly and set her gaze on the troubled girl sitting in front of her.
"Then why are you doing this? You're so young Lo, how do you know he's the one?" Camila inquired pulling her hand away from Lauren grip and running her fingers nervously through her wavy hair.
"I just feel it. Whenever I'm with him, every second that goes by is worth it. Do you know what I mean?" Lauren answered as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. But, tragically enough, Camila knew exactly what she meant, because that's what she felt whenever Lauren was around.
The girls looked at each other silently for a couple of seconds. Camila still couldn't believe what she had just heard and wanted to lock herself in the bathroom and cry for ages, while Lauren was trying to decipher the reason for her former bandmate's unexpected response. She thought Camila would've been happy for her, they had been talking about how excited they were for each other's eventual weddings since the The X Factor days, but when the time came, Camila wasn't excited at all.
"Then congratulations, I guess." Camila finally spoke unsure of what she was supposed to say in situations like this one.
"Thank you." Lauren said softly and took another long sip from her coffee that had already turned cold after the intense conversation.
"I still don't get why you're telling me this. We hadn't spoken in ages and I basically ruined your life, why would you invite me to your wedding?" Camila asked honestly confused. If anything, she thought Lauren hated her profoundly, but she was clearly mistaken.
"Because you were a huge part of my life Camz, you still are. And I really want you there with me, but you're right, I can't just come back and expect things to go back to normal in a matter of minutes. I totally understand if you decide not to come." Lauren stated sadly and took a deep breath before continuing. "But, like I said, I'd love to have you with me Camila. I've been an ass for not trying to reach you before, but I really need you right now."
Camila swallowed hard at the sight of the girl she had been in love with for a long time in such distress. She wanted to help her somehow, but she also wanted to stop the wedding before it was too late.
"Of course I'll be there, if this is really what you want then I'm happy for you." Camila said and a smile creeped on Lauren's face almost immediately. Of course Camila wanted to be with the stunning green eyed girl, but she also wanted her to be happy, and if that meant witnessing her marriage to a guy who clearly didn't deserve her, she'd just have to get through with it.
"You have no idea how much that means to me, thank you." Lauren expressed sincerely. "I have some pretty stressful couple of weeks ahead with college and the wedding coming up, I honestly don't know if I'll make it through." She added laughing lightly, giving Camila an incredible idea.
