Maely had never realized how many classes she had with Ashton, Micheal, and Luke. She could smell Luke from a mile away, but she never realized.
Everyone had a specific smell to Maely. It was strange but she never thought about herself too much.
Both Luke and Carson smelled of tobacco, Micheal smelled like pizza and various other greasy foods, and Ashton smelled of chemicals and...she couldn't quite place the other one. But Maely definitely recognized the chemicals as cancer-treatment chemicals.
And no matter how hot it was, Ashton always wore long sleeves and a beanie.
As for Calum, he smelled like tropical fruits. It was Maely's favorite scent.
Anyway.
Michael was in almost everyone of her classes, as well as Luke. Ashton sat behind her in English , but she'd never looked around. She only ever focused on Calum.
"Calum, get off my desk." Maely whispered, looking up from her book.
She scratched her arm.
Calum kicked his feet and smiled at her. He hopped off and leaned over her shoulder. "What the hell? This book is rubbish!" he said.
Calum snatched the book out of her hands and threw it to the front of the class.
"What the...." Maely sighed, putting her head in her hands. "Calum, cut it out."
"Maely," the teacher spoke up. Maely lifted her head slowly. "Any reason your book is at my feet?"
Mr. Martinez kicked the book a bit.
"I'm--shit--sorry, sir. Calum took it out of my hands a--"
"I just want you to pick it up."
Mr. Martinez didn't have the courage to mention there was no Calum.
Maely leaned down and picked up the book, scratching her arm as she did so. She sat back down, rolling her eyes when Mr. Martinez looked away.
She went back to reading her rubbish book and Calum began to snicker.
"What're you laughing at?" she whispered through gritted teeth.
He just smiled and laughed a bit. He sat back up on her desk and finally replied. "I got you in trouble." he teased
"Yeah, you did. It wasn't funny, so stop." Maely said sharply.
A few people around her began to stare.
"Oh, c'mon, yes it was." he insisted.
Maely caved, "Ok, just a bit."
" 'I just want you to pick it up.' " Calum said, mocking the teacher.
"Shut up! He's right there!"
The whole class sent annoyed looks in Maely's direction, but she ignored them.
Calum leaned towards Mr. Martinez and made a face at him. Maely stifled a laugh.
Ashton put his head in his hand and tried to ignore Maely.
The kid next to him leaned over and whispered, "Is she mental?"
Ashton glanced at the kid, then at Maely. It took him a while to reply, but he did.
"No." Ashton said, shaking his head a bit.
He went back to reading his book, slightly annoyed by everything of the matter.
