A married man.

His new status doesn't stop the ladies from flirting him. Gestures of their fans. How their eyes show their interests. Wanting him to humor them in bed.

Emmie bites her lips.

They have been married for a month. Doug is still recovering from his wounds. This is their first party they attended as husband and wife.

His marriage status doesn't stop the ladies from trying to catch his attention.

Married or not, Doug would always be a popular guy.

Emmie bites her lips again. She pays no attention to gossips told by the lady next to her.

Her eyes are busy following Doug anywhere in the ballroom.

She exhales when Doug goes to game room to escape the desperate ladies.

A lady next to her asks, "Hard isn't it? Seeing how those witches flirt him?"

Emmie asks, "Excuse me?"

"Young, rich and popular man. I heard he's good in satisfying a lady."

Emmie says, "That's my husband."

"Won't stop them from wanting him."

It's the truth. Most married ladies aren't too happy with their husbands and their mistresses. They would seek fun outside their manors. Usually in a party like this.

Doug used to humor them.

Now he's back in ton.

And the ladies are dying to catch up with him again.

"Excuse me. I need a drink."

Emmie goes to drink a glass of punch.

She hates a party like this. She knows Doug is a lady's man.

(Hate to feel like this. He's mine! Don't touch his arm! Stop staring him! I'll poke your eyes out!)

Emmie chuckles. The ladies would think she's a mad woman if she said those words.

She drinks the punch one glass, followed by another one. Her head begins to swirl a little. Must be some alcohol in them.

Her eyes see Doug leaves the game room. A lady follows him closely behind. Not too subtle. Like a hound chasing a fox.

A man behind her greets, "You look lonely tonight. Would you like to dance with me?"

Lucien.

Some folks called him Lucifer behind his back. A handsome and cunning devil. Beside George, this man is Doug's best friend.

"Sure. Why not? Doug left me alone."

Lucien is a good dancer. She hasn't danced like this for few years. Since she married to George. And she loves dancing.

Lucien escorts her to the edge of a ballroom after their dance finished. She stumbles and almost falls down. He catches her in time before she humiliated herself in a crowded ballroom.

"Whoops! I think you're drunk..."

"I just wanna more fun," says her a bit too loud.

"You don't seem so happy."

"How could I? Witches flirt my husband left and right."

Lucien smiles widely. She's jealous of Doug's popularity. She doesn't realize how many men were eyeing her earlier.

A pretty lady.

Now she has a husband. No longer a naive debutante. Noblemen are more than ready to flirt her. Hoping Doug would spend the night with another lady. So one of them might have a chance to humor his pretty wife.
